Junior Edwards has died.
On July 26, the family and colleagues of the Swamp People TV personality shared news of his passing through several posts on social media platforms.
Ashley “Deadeye” Jones expressed her sorrow over her fellow Swamp People cast member’s passing on Instagram, saying, “A true legend has left us! RIP Mr. Junior Edwards! Let’s keep his family in our thoughts and prayers. He was undoubtedly one of the greatest alligator hunters out there!
The television personality, posting a selfie with Junior alongside her comment, added, “He was an avid outdoorsman, truly hardcore! I witnessed this man catch gigantic alligators at Duffys Gas Station in Pierre Part, Louisiana. This came after a very long day for both of us, and it shows! We were glad to take a moment for a photo.
Simultaneously, Little Willie Edwards, Junior’s grandson, posted on Facebook, “Take peaceful rest, Grandpa… I imagine you’re either playing with your hoop nets or causing a ruckus in those pearly gates. You will be deeply missed, Grandpa. Our love for you is beyond measure. Until we meet again.
Neither Ashley nor Willie shared details about the date of his passing or official cause of death.
Fans of the History Channel series also mourned Junior’s passing in the comments.
Apologies from me, a fervent admirer, for the distressing news that’s left me reeling. Junior Edwards, he was no ordinary man; he was a titan among us alligator hunters and trappers. Yet, what made him truly extraordinary was his role as a devoted family man, a provider who ensured his loved ones were well taken care of.
They mentioned, ‘I’ll always remember the time he accidentally shot Willie, or when they released the otter they nursed back to health – I cried too. My heartfelt sympathies and prayers go out to your family during these difficult times.’
A dedicated fan who’s followed for years expressed, “Although I never had the chance to meet Mr. Junior Edwards personally, watching him on Swamp People made me feel like I knew him. He was a sincere and diligent man, and his kind-heartedness was evident in that episode with the otter! Rest In Peace.
