Billy Ray Cyrus gave his ex-wife, Tish Cyrus, a heartfelt birthday tribute. He performed his 2007 song “Ready, Set, Don’t Go” for her, and they share five children together: Brandi (38), Trace (37), Miley (33), Braison (32), and Noah (26).

Oh my gosh, you guys, today and tomorrow are HUGE days! It’s my incredible mom, Ruthie’s, birthday on May 14th, and then tomorrow it’s Tish’s! Tish… you know, the amazing woman who was always there for Miley, even in that iconic driveway moment when I was writing ‘Ready Set Don’t Go’? Billy Ray just posted about it and it totally melted my heart. He’s wishing her all the peace, love, and happiness in the world, and honestly, same! They’re both just the BEST mothers ever, seriously.

In the video, the country singer, who divorced Tish in 2022, plays guitar while singing a heartfelt song. He wrote the ballad in 2007, inspired by watching his daughter Miley pursue her dreams on Hannah Montana.

The singer, now 64, remembered how the song came about, especially since she acted with Miley on the Disney Channel series from 2006 to 2011.

Okay, seriously, he actually said ‘TRUE STORY’ – like he’s acknowledging everything we feel is REAL! And then… dedicating it to us?! To the Hannah Montana Nation?! My heart! Billy Ray Cyrus, who is also father to Christopher Cody Cyrus, 34, with his ex-wife Kristin Luckey, quoted a line from the song: ‘Got stars in her eyes, the prize is hers to win.’

While Billy Ray Cyrus’s recent post shows how much he and Tish have moved on since their split, Tish has also shared how difficult their divorce was for her. She married Dominic Purcell in 2023.

You know, I’ve learned over the years to just roll with the punches. Life happens, and the best thing to do is keep moving forward. I was with my previous partner for a really long time – I was only 23 or 24 when we first got together – so after it ended, that’s exactly what I did: I focused on moving forward.

It’s been such a difficult time for me as a fan, watching everything unfold. Not only is she going through a divorce, but she recently lost her mother, Loretta Jean Palmer Finley, and it’s clear how much that loss has deepened the pain of the separation. It’s heartbreaking to see her cope with both at once.

Tish revealed that she hadn’t fully dealt with two very difficult experiences in her life. She also shared that she used to smoke weed frequently, and that it helped manage her anxiety, almost like a form of self-medication.

Tish shared that it’s only recently, after more than a year of not using cannabis, that she’s begun to find ways to manage her anxiety.

She stressed how much she’d improved. She explained that she’d barely been able to cope a year ago, just focusing on getting through each day. Now, she felt like she’d moved past that difficult time completely.
