Although principal photography for The Batman Part II doesn’t begin until June, preparations are already in full swing. Director Matt Reeves recently shared photos of the Batmobile undergoing testing – showcasing the famous vehicle in a snowy environment. Now, he’s given another exciting update, this time regarding the movie’s cast. Reeves posted a series of GIFs from The Batman on social media, hinting at returning characters and promising more cast announcements soon.
Matt Reeves shared several short video clips on X (formerly Twitter) showcasing the cast of ‘The Batman’. These included looks at Robert Pattinson as Batman, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Jayme Lawson as Bella Real, and Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez. He captioned most of the clips with some version of “my friend,” but simply wrote “Hey! Mr. Martinez!” for Perez-Abraham’s clip.
More Casting Announcements Could Be Coming
Reeves finished sharing updates on Wednesday by saying he’d have more on Thursday, and it looks like those updates will likely be about who’s been cast in the sequel. We already know Sebastian Stan will play Harvey Dent. Scarlett Johansson and Charles Dance are also joining the cast, but their roles haven’t been announced yet. Reeves’ next updates might reveal what characters they’ll be playing, or at least narrow down the possibilities.
As director Matt Reeves shares more details about the next Batman movie, fans are especially eager to find out who the main villain will be. While Reeves has hinted the villain will be a fresh face – someone we haven’t seen in a movie before – recent photos of the Batmobile have led some to speculate it could be Mr. Freeze. For now, Reeves’ updates are building anticipation for the sequel, which is currently scheduled to be released on October 1, 2027, and are giving fans a few clues about what’s to come.
