The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is happening, and Daniel Žižka is representing Czechia with hopes of winning.
Czechia first competed in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 and hasn’t won yet. They’ve reached the Grand Final five times, with their highest finish being sixth place in 2018 when Mikolas Josef performed “Lie to Me.”
Daniel Žižka, one of the youngest singers in this year’s competition, is determined to win and bring home the first victory for his country.
I’m really rooting for them, but they have a tough road ahead! They need to get through the semi-finals first, and it’s incredibly competitive – only 20 contestants will make it to the Grand Final.
I’m really curious to see if Daniel Žižka from Czechia has what it takes to come out on top! I’ve been digging around to find out everything about him, and here’s what I’ve learned.

The Eurovision Song Contest has received a lot of criticism for letting Israel participate this year, given the current war happening in Gaza.
Several countries are choosing not to participate in this year’s contest because the organization in charge, the European Broadcasting Union, decided against banning Israel from competing.
In December 2025, the EBU held a meeting where members voted to create rules preventing governments or outside groups from unfairly boosting certain songs to sway voting results. However, they did not vote on whether Israel would be allowed to participate.
The EBU announced that most of its members agreed a new vote on whether to hold the contest wasn’t necessary. They confirmed the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest will go ahead as scheduled, with extra security measures added.
Well, folks, the lineup for Eurovision is already looking a bit different this year. I’m hearing that Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Iceland have all decided to sit this one out. It’s a shame to see them not competing, and definitely changes the dynamic of the contest.
Ireland’s public broadcaster, RTÉ, has stated that it believes it’s inappropriate for Ireland to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest this year, considering the tragic loss of life and ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which continues to endanger civilians.
The BBC, the UK broadcaster for the competition, stated it backs the EBU’s decision. In a statement, they explained it’s about upholding the competition’s rules and ensuring inclusivity.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 final will take place on Saturday 16 May 2026.
