Today’s Sheinelle Jones Moving With 3 Kids a Year After Husband Died

Sheinelle Jones will be starting her mornings from a new location.

Jenna Bush Hager, a co-host on Today With Jenna & Sheinelle, recently shared that her family is moving to a new house. This comes a year after the loss of her husband, Uche Ojeh, who passed away after fighting brain cancer. She and her children—16-year-old Kayin and 13-year-old twins Clara and Uche—are starting this new chapter together.

Sheinelle announced on the morning show on May 14th that her children are starting at a new school, and as a result, the family is relocating.

The 48-year-old didn’t reveal where her family was moving, but she joked with Jenna Bush Hager that moving is a major life stressor, adding, “Like I don’t have enough stress already!”

While working on the project, Sheinelle mentioned she’s been sorting through lots of old boxes in her basement. She rediscovered forgotten treasures, including a meaningful keepsake from her 2007 wedding to Uche.

She explained that she discovered an old suitcase and, when she opened it, found her wedding dress inside. She recalled taking photos with Uche throughout the streets of Philadelphia, which left the bottom of the dress dirty.

Although Sheinelle was sad she hadn’t saved her wedding dress, she explained that she now viewed it with new meaning after Uche passed away.

Sheinelle has openly discussed dealing with her grief since she returned to Today in September, explaining that the experience has been surprisingly helpful for both her own healing and for connecting with others, even though it’s been challenging.

She recently told TopMob News that people kept telling her how strong she was, but she was just focused on getting through each day. She explained that at first, even getting out of bed was a struggle. She’d tell herself, ‘I have to go to work,’ and force herself to do it.

She explained that she often feels she’s just doing what needs to be done, but others perceive it as strength. She admits she’s surprised when people call her strong, questioning if that’s really how she feels.

I’ve been watching Sheinelle for ages, and it’s amazing to see how open she is. She always talks about how sharing her struggles has helped others, which is incredible, but honestly, I’ve noticed she’s finally realizing it’s been helping her too! It’s like she’s empowering herself through everything, and it’s just…wow. It’s so inspiring to watch her grow and find strength from within.

She admitted she hadn’t really considered celebrating her own resilience until recently. ‘We often forget to acknowledge our own accomplishments,’ she explained, ‘but I’m finally realizing I deserve some credit for getting through a difficult time.’
