Transformers Brings Back Ultra Magnus’ Lost Original Colors in New Prototype Reveal

The ‘Shattered Glass’ universe has become a fan favorite in the Transformers franchise, offering a twisted take on the Autobots and Decepticons’ conflict. A standout character from this alternate reality is Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus, and he’s getting a new toy based on this unique, flipped world.

Newage Toys has shown off a test color version of their H28B Lucullu figure, a smaller-scale take on the Transformers character Ultra Magnus. The figure is a repaint of an existing design and represents Ultra Magnus as he appears in the ‘Shattered Glass’ storyline. Because of this, it could also represent other characters from the Transformers universe, making it a particularly interesting release.

Newage Toys’ Latest Transformers Figure Is a Dark Take on Ultra Magnus

H28B Lucullu is a recolor of the Newage Toys H27W Conquest figure, which was based on the classic Generation 1 Ultra Magnus. They share many of the same features and accessories, but Lucullu has a redesigned head with a skull-like design in robot mode. The shoulder missiles have also been slightly updated, and Ultra Magnus now includes a cool new sword.

The most striking update is the color scheme, which takes inspiration from Ultra Magnus’s ‘Shattered Glass’ version. In that version, his usual red and blue colors were flipped and made darker. Interestingly, these colors were originally intended to be Magnus’s permanent look, as they matched the first version of his toy released in Takara’s Diaclone line.

Magnus was originally presented with this design in his first trailer appearance. This color scheme later became its own character, known as Delta Magnus, in subsequent stories.

Like the original Ultra Magnus toy, this version transforms into a semi-truck cab with a car carrier trailer. The cab is a recolor of Optimus Prime, done in dark blue and gray. When combined with the trailer, it forms Ultra Magnus’s robot mode. Both robot modes can use the Ion Blaster, originally from Optimus Prime, as well as Ultra Magnus’s own blaster.

The first pictures on Newage Toys’ Weibo page feature this new figure with two others from the Shattered Glass line (one of which is a recolor of an existing toy). It’s currently unclear whether these figures will be sold as a set or individually. The price and release date haven’t been announced yet. However, this is just one of many toys being released this year to celebrate the character’s 40th anniversary.
