As a huge fan, I’m hearing some exciting news! It sounds like we’re finally going to get a reveal of Hogwarts Legacy 2 at the next PlayStation State of Play. It’s kind of cool because the first Hogwarts Legacy was also revealed at a State of Play back in March 2022, and then released almost a year later in February 2023. If the pattern holds, and they reveal the sequel this month or next, we could be playing Hogwarts Legacy 2 as early as spring or summer of 2027! I’m already getting hyped!
A recent leak, shared by a source named Tidux, suggests a new PlayStation State of Play is coming soon. Tidux’s information hasn’t always been accurate, but they’ve been right on occasion. This follows confirmation from Nate the Hate, a well-known and reliable industry insider, who says he has a rough idea of when the event will happen – indicating details are starting to surface from those involved. Tidux hasn’t shared any specifics beyond confirming the State of Play is on the horizon.
Evidence a Hogwarts Legacy 2 Reveal Is Close
Rumors are building that Avalanche Software is getting ready to announce Hogwarts Legacy 2. We’ve seen two new hints, but more importantly, the studio hired a community manager last month. They last hired one in December 2021, and Hogwarts Legacy was revealed just four months later. Typically, game studios don’t employ community managers until close to a game’s announcement, when marketing starts, and then they’ll maintain that position through post-launch support before eventually letting them go. This hiring pattern strongly suggests an upcoming reveal. Adding to this, the studio recently brought on a Video Capture Artist to work on trailers and marketing materials, making their preparations even clearer. It makes sense that Warner Bros. Games would want to release the sequel around the time the new Harry Potter TV show premieres on HBO, which is scheduled for December 25, 2026.
Although it seems very likely that Hogwarts Legacy 2 will be announced shortly, it’s best to be cautious about this recent PlayStation State of Play news. There are several upcoming events, like Summer Games Fest and the Xbox Summer Showcase, where the game could also be revealed. It’s possible PlayStation has secured exclusive marketing rights for the sequel, just as they did with the original game.
