Mixtape Isn’t Going Anywhere, Won’t Be Delisted Over Music Licenses

Both the developers of the well-received PS5 game, Beethoven & Dinosaur (Mixtape team), and its publisher, Annapurna Interactive, have assured players that the game won’t be removed from sale due to the music it uses.

As a big fan of Mixtape, I was so relieved to hear they’ve sorted out the music licensing! Apparently, instead of just getting temporary licenses, the team actually paid extra to secure the rights to the music forever. Johnny Galvatron, the creative director, told Kotaku all about it, and Annapurna Interactive confirmed it on their social media – which means we don’t have to worry about the game being pulled from sale! It’s awesome they went the extra mile to protect it.

We’ve heard rumors that MIXTAPE would be removed because of issues with music licenses, but those rumors are false.

Music is central to the game Mixtape – the songs aren’t just background tunes, but actually represent the thoughts and feelings of the main character, Stacey, as she creates a mixtape. Because of this strong connection between story and music, the developers chose not to include a feature that would allow streamers to avoid copyright issues by replacing the licensed songs.

I was super relieved to hear that Mixtape on PS5 probably won’t get pulled from the store just because of its amazing music. I gave it a 9/10 in my review, and honestly, it’s just a fantastic game – beautiful visuals, incredible soundtrack, and seriously fun to play. It’s a real achievement, and I’m glad it’s likely to stay available for others to enjoy!

You simply have to play it, as one of the PS5’s best games of 2026 so far.
