Euphoria Reveals Fate of Zendaya’s Rue After Season 3 Cliffhanger

Warning: spoilers for Euphoria season three, episode six ahead.

Off with Rue Bennett’s head?

Okay, I was so worried! After graduating from East Highland, Rue’s life was seriously on the line when Alamo Brown—played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje—came charging at her on horseback with a polo mallet! It looked awful, but thankfully, in the May 17th episode of Euphoria, she was spared from what would have been a terrible fate. I was on the edge of my seat!

While trapped in the desert, forced to dig her own grave by G (Marshawn Lynch) and Bishop (Darrell Britt-Gibson), Rue begged for her life just as the Silver Slipper’s owner almost hit her with his vehicle.

But he wasn’t going to let her off the hook that easily. Facing death, Rue admitted she’d claimed she could recover the money from Laurie (Martha Kelly), who had robbed Alamo with Faye’s (Chloe Cherry) help.

“The girl, the getaway driver,” she emphasized. “I know her and her name is Faye. I can call her.”

Rue, who Alamo thought helped with the robbery, begged Faye over the phone to text a picture of the safe key. Alamo wanted to make a copy of the key so he could access the stolen goods, which were being guarded by Rue’s white supremacist boyfriend, Wayne (Toby Wallace).

At first, she didn’t want to get involved because she had feelings for Wayne. But Rue, who was still trapped and with Alamo dangerously close, pointed out that Fezco (the late Angus Cloud) was sent to prison due to her former boyfriend, Custer (Tyler Chase).

Rue desperately called, saying, “I really need Fez right now. He’d be able to help, but does anyone know where he is? He’s in jail because of that guy you used to date, Faye. He helped you, and now I need a favor. Can you please help me?”

Haunted by guilt, Faye complied with Rue’s request and sent her the picture of the key. This came after Rue agreed to work as a DEA informant to stay out of jail for her involvement in drug trafficking, as shown in the May 4th episode.

Laurie went to Alamo’s house for a meeting, not knowing Alamo had seen a photo Faye sent. During that meeting, his competitor forced him to smuggle 80 kilograms of fentanyl across the border. Unbeknownst to Laurie, Rue secretly recorded the conversation, and DEA agents were listening nearby in a car.

Later that night, Agent Jimenez (Hemky Madera) told her, “If things go as planned, these individuals will be in prison for the rest of their lives.” He continued, “You followed through, you kept your promise, and the U.S. attorney will likely view your case positively.”

When Agent Bowman (William Bodner) complimented her with a simple “You did good, kid,”, Rue replied, “Never thought I’d hear that.”

Once again, Rue found herself in a dangerous situation when Alamo ordered her to rob the safe. He reasoned, “You have more at stake than I do. This was your idea, so shouldn’t you finish what you started?”

Can you even imagine?! They get absolutely nothing – no food, no water, not even clothes! It’s a forty-day nightmare where they’ll have to rely on their skills, their strength, and… well, whether they can even stand each other. I’m already on the edge of my seat!

I’m completely hooked on this new series! It follows twelve incredibly dedicated teams – they’re certified weather spotters and storm chasers – and it’s all filmed by them.
