CD Projekt RED’s Project Sirius Recruits Destiny 2: The Final Shape Narrative Lead

We haven’t heard much about Project Sirius, the multiplayer game based on The Witcher, recently. However, that could change now that Kwan Perng has joined the CD Projekt RED team in Boston as the lead writer. He’s well-known for his work on popular games like the Destiny 2: The Final Shape expansion and Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons.

He shared on LinkedIn that he can’t discuss the project just yet, but he’s been spending his time exploring the world of The Witcher. He expressed his gratitude for the chance to work on stories within that universe alongside a very skilled team of developers.

The appointment of Perng suggests the project, which has been stalled since it was first announced, may be moving forward. The game is being developed by The Molasses Flood, but a restructuring in 2023 resulted in layoffs for almost half of their team – 29 employees.

CD Projekt RED previously explained that the team structure shifted to better suit the current project, with more changes happening on the development side than with leadership. This could indicate that the Boston studio is becoming more involved, while The Molasses Flood plays a supporting role. It’s still unclear how these changes will impact future projects, including Project Orion, also known as Cyberpunk 2.

We still haven’t seen any actual gameplay or learned many details about Project Sirius. It was described as a fresh and exciting addition to The Witcher world, promising a compelling story for both longtime fans and newcomers. By November, the game will have been in development for almost four years, but according to a recent post, a reveal might still be some time away. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
