HBO’s Harry Potter Series Is Recasting Main Hogwarts Character For Season 2

HBO’s Harry Potter series loses a main cast member.

As a huge Harry Potter fan, I’m so excited about everything happening with the franchise! It’s already a massive success – we’re talking over $30 billion worth of books, movies, theme parks, games, and all sorts of amazing stuff. And now, HBO is making a new TV show, adapting one book each season. I love that they’re really committed to staying true to the original stories, and it feels like the magic is just beginning!

According to Deadline, Gracie Cochrane, who played Ginny Weasley in the first season, is leaving the show. The role will be re-cast before season two begins filming. Cochrane and her family shared that her departure is due to unexpected personal issues. This news follows the announcement that the Harry Potter series has been renewed for a second season, with production slated to start this fall.

Gracie has decided to leave her role as Ginny Weasley in the HBO Harry Potter series after the first season because of unexpected personal reasons. She’s incredibly thankful for her time working on the show and especially appreciates Lucy Bevan and the whole production crew for making it such a memorable experience. Gracie is now looking forward to what comes next in her career.
