This week sees the release of three major video games. Two of them, Forza Horizon 6 and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, won’t be available on PlayStation 5 at launch. While Forza Horizon 6 is planned for PS5 eventually, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book won’t be coming to the platform at all. The third game is on PS5, but it doesn’t take advantage of the PS5 Pro’s extra power, so there’s very little difference between the standard and Pro versions. This is becoming a common issue, as many big PS5 games are launching without any enhancements for the PS5 Pro.
If you’re getting a PS5 Pro and excited about Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight launching on May 22nd, it’s important to know the game won’t have any special enhancements for the new console, and there are no plans to add them. Sometimes games get these updates after release, but it’s uncertain if that will happen here. Because of this, the game also won’t support PSSR 2, the PS5 Pro’s key exclusive feature. It’s worth noting that only a small number of PS5 games currently use this feature.
“That Sucks”
It’s not surprising that some PS5 Pro owners are underwhelmed, although a few believe the game’s visual style—being LEGO-based—limits how much improvement is possible. There’s some truth to that, but it doesn’t fully explain the situation.
One PS5 Pro user on Reddit called it “really silly” that not all new games take full advantage of the console’s enhanced features, suggesting they expected this to be standard. Another user expressed hope that this functionality would be added in a future update.
One source also pointed out that Sony promised all new games released after the PS5 Pro came out would have special features for the new console, but this hasn’t happened. They expressed strong disagreement with that claim.
Okay, so if you haven’t heard, there’s a new LEGO Batman game! It’s the fourth one in the series, and I’ve been hearing really good things. It’s an action-adventure game where you play from a third-person perspective, and you can play it by yourself or with a friend in co-op. The score on Metacritic is an 84, which tells me it’s definitely worth checking out!
