Alex Cooper, the incredible founder of Daddy Gang and host of Call Her Daddy, is expecting her first baby with her husband, Matt Kaplan. She shared the exciting announcement on Instagram, posting photos that beautifully revealed her growing bump. Honestly, she said she was relieved to finally stop hiding it!

It’s been a busy time for them, with their company Trending making headlines and some recent public chatter, but they’ve clearly remained a strong team, even appearing together on the red carpet just before sharing the pregnancy news.

Knowing Alex and Matt, it really doesn’t surprise me they kept this special news close for a while. They’ve always been private about their relationship, famously keeping Matt’s name under wraps when they first started dating – a refreshing approach in the age of oversharing! It just proves they value what’s truly important: their connection and now, their growing family.

When Alex Cooper and Matt Kaplan first started dating in 2020, Cooper playfully nicknamed him “Mr. Sexy Zoom Man” – a reference to their initial meeting during a video call. She later told Vogue that she was immediately struck by how attractive he was during their first Zoom meeting, but tried to remain professional. She admitted to being distracted by his video square even with five other people on the call. Kaplan embraced the nickname, finding it both amusing and a truthful reflection of how they connected. In the 2025 documentary Call Her Alex, he explained that the moniker helped him feel more comfortable with Cooper’s devoted fanbase, as he generally prefers to stay behind the scenes.

They eventually met in person, having their first date over sushi in Los Angeles. As Cooper described on the Call Her Daddy podcast in August 2020, they instantly connected, feeling like they’d known each other forever.

The connection was strong – so much so that she openly discussed their intimate experiences on the Call Her Daddy episode, “The Sloppy Toppy Delight.” In February 2021, Cooper confirmed they were officially a couple, referring to him as “Mr. Sexy Zoom Man.”

Cooper admitted on YouTube that she hadn’t previously had a healthy relationship and expressed nervousness about potentially ruining things with someone she felt was perfect. She explained she was scared because this relationship meant so much to her, and she worried about self-sabotage. “I want this more than anything,” she said, “and that’s probably why I’m scared.”

Despite her initial hesitation, Cooper decided to commit to the relationship. She eventually told Kaplan he could propose, and they announced their engagement and revealed his identity publicly in April 2023.

Cooper described her fiancé, Matt Kaplan, as the most romantic man she’s ever known. He proposed with a clever plan: he tricked her into thinking they were doing a glamorous photoshoot, then led her on a scavenger hunt around their house, and finally surprised her with a party attended by loved ones. “I feel so lucky,” she told Vogue.

The couple later married in Mexico. Though excited about their future, Cooper wasn’t quite ready to start a family just yet. Kaplan was previously married to Claire Holt.

She shared that while she believes her partner would be a wonderful father, she needs more time to herself before starting a family. It was difficult to admit, but she wants to experience more of life before entering motherhood. She emphasized this isn’t about stopping her life once she has children, but rather wanting to be fully present and engaged when that time comes.
