Netflix Just Added 20 New Episodes of DC’s Overlooked Batman Series

Batman is one of the most famous and beloved superheroes of all time. His popularity extends beyond comic books to television and film, with many movies and shows created over the years, including Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and the recent HBO series The Penguin. Despite the abundance of Batman content, some projects don’t get the recognition they deserve, and a particularly good one has just become available on Netflix.

Season two of the animated Batman series, Batwheels, is now available on Netflix. It joins season one on the streaming service, and arrives just before new episodes premiere on HBO Max on May 22nd. The show, featuring Ethan Hawke as the voice of Batman, is different from most Batman stories because it focuses on the vehicles used by the Bat-Family, but it’s a fun watch for any Batman enthusiast.

Batwheels Is the Perfect, Family-Friendly Superhero Series Everyone Will Love

In the animated series Batwheels, the Batcomputer magically brings the Bat-Family’s vehicles to life! These cars – including the Batmobile (Bam), Redbird (Red), Batgirl Cycle (Bibi), Bat Truck (Buff), and Batwing (Wing) – become superpowered heroes who fight crime to protect Gotham City. They’re led by Bam, and also get help from a mobile operations expert named M.O.E. (like Alfred, but for cars!). The Batwheels team up with familiar heroes like Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Green Arrow, and Nightwing to keep Gotham safe.

What makes Batwheels so special is its fun combination of superpowered vehicles and beloved heroes, making it a great show for everyone. Though designed for preschoolers, the adventures aren’t just for kids – there’s a real charm in seeing familiar characters paired with kid-friendly cars. Hawke’s portrayal of Batman is a standout, and the show consistently teaches valuable lessons about teamwork and friendship. There’s plenty of action to keep everyone entertained, and while it’s not a gritty, dark take on Gotham, there’s still crime to solve and the bright animation is visually appealing. The show also includes clever humor that might just have adults tuning in even without the kids! Plus, with episodes lasting only 15 minutes, it’s perfect for a quick superhero escape.

You can now watch the first two seasons of Batwheels on Netflix. More new episodes will be available on HBO Max starting May 22nd.
