Lords of the Fallen 2 is No Longer Published by Epic Games on PC

CI Games and Epic Games have ended their distribution agreement for the PC version of Lords of the Fallen 2. They originally partnered almost two years ago, giving Epic Games the rights to distribute the game on PC for as long as the game was sold.

As a fan, I was worried Lords of the Fallen 2 might have been an Epic Games Store exclusive – it seemed like that was the direction things were heading, especially if Epic was helping fund the game. But now that CI Games has stepped away from that deal, it looks like we’ll finally be able to play it on Steam and other PC stores, which is awesome!

CI Games and Epic have a strong relationship that extends beyond just the game itself, largely because it’s built using Unreal Engine 5. Their existing agreements remain active, covering things like Epic’s online and account services, and even the possibility of CI Games being involved with the Fortnite universe. After all, if Mortal Kombat can be featured there, anything is possible.

The separation agreement was actually signed on April 14th, but CI Games didn’t announce it then. They claim this was to protect their business interests, as the agreement wasn’t finalized at the time and included a clause preventing them from making a public statement until it officially took effect. The board also didn’t believe keeping it quiet would have been misleading to investors.

The highly anticipated game, Lords of the Fallen 2, is scheduled to release later this year on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. While an official release date hasn’t been announced, a designer at CI Games hinted in their online portfolio that it could be as early as August. We might learn more at the Summer Game Fest on June 5th, including confirmation that the game will be available on Steam. Keep an eye out for more news!
