90 Day Fiancé’s Jenny Slatten Shares ALS Diagnosis

Jenny Slatten is detailing her health journey.

The reality TV star from 90 Day Fiancé revealed she was diagnosed with ALS, a disease also known as Lou Gehrig’s, last December. This came about a year after she first began noticing symptoms.

As Jenny told Peoplein an interview published May 19, “We’re doing what we can.”

Jenny, age 68, first noticed something was wrong in December 2024 when she struggled to swallow water, according to her husband, Sumit Singh.

The reality TV personality then began having difficulty swallowing pills, and she and Sumit initially thought it was just an infection.

After Jenny started taking medication, Sumit, 38, said her health improved.

It wasn’t long before the couple realized Jenny’s speech was becoming slower, and that’s when she first suspected something wasn’t right.

A year after the show, Jenny went to New York City for a 90 Day Fiancé event, and viewers observed that she was speaking more slowly than usual.

“I was thinking that maybe,” Sumit recalled, “Jenny didn’t even sleep.”

After someone commented that Jenny might have ALS – the same disease that took her father’s life ten years earlier – Sumit decided to learn more about it.

He explained that he discovered what was causing her symptoms, and this is how it presented itself.

When Jenny came back to India, where she and Sumit live, they consulted multiple neurologists hoping to get a clear diagnosis. At first, doctors thought Jenny might have a small blood clot in her brain.

But a second opinion revealed she was experiencing early signs of ALS.

Jenny described how she and Sumit broke down in tears and embraced each other when they received the diagnosis, admitting they were both frightened.

Even though Jenny’s condition is progressing slowly, Sumit and she are already looking into possible treatments.

We’re still actively looking for leads,” Jenny said, hoping that by sharing her experience, someone with information will come forward and help.

Although she knows this diagnosis will significantly change her life, she’s focusing on getting through each day as it comes.

“I just want things to stay normal,” Jenny said. “Let’s enjoy life as we always have, for as long as we can.”

And Sumit will be by her side every step of the way.

“I’ve honestly never experienced this level of love, or been capable of loving someone so deeply,” Sumit shared. “I used to be completely self-focused, but over the past several years, I’ve realized that true happiness comes from doing things for the person you love – I think that’s really what love is all about.”

“And that’s why we do things for each other,” he added, “and that’s what make each other happy.”

I was so worried when I heard that my favorite podcast host, from BFFs, had to have emergency surgery back in May 2026! Apparently, doctors found a really big cyst on her ovary that was twisting things around inside and causing her to bleed internally. It was a scary situation, and I was just relieved to hear she was getting the care she needed.

After her surgery, Brianna explained in a TikTok video that doctors discovered about half a liter of blood in her pelvic area. She had five cuts on her stomach, and the surgeons used a camera inserted through her belly button to locate the source of the bleeding.

Former Total Bellas star said her breast implant moved after being hit in the chest by fellow wrestler Piper Niven during a match in July 2025.

She reassured her sister, Bella Garcia, saying they would get the issue resolved eventually. She explained to the doctor that as soon as she finished her current commitment, she’d return to address the problem and ensure everything looked its best, because she planned to use it again and it needed to be presentable.

Lupita Nyong’o, known for her role in 12 Years a Slave, received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids—benign growths in or around the uterus—in 2014, the year she won an Academy Award for her performance in the film.

She didn’t share her diagnosis until 2025, when she revealed on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with the condition for over ten years.

She explained that many girls are taught to accept period pain as a normal part of growing up and being female. This often leaves them dealing with a common issue in silence and feeling isolated.

In July 2025, the actress from Daisy Jones & The Six revealed she was hospitalized for a hernia. This happened because she’d been wearing pants that were too tight, which caused a gap in her abdominal muscles.

Someone messaged Suki on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, asking why she hadn’t posted recently. The message jokingly revealed a surprising reason for her silence: she claimed a pair of very tight pants she wore six months ago caused a hernia, and she’s been afraid to mention it.

The former star of Beverly Hills, 90210 shared in April 2025 that he was recovering from surgery to fix a nearly ruptured appendix.

Brian shared in an Instagram video that he recently experienced stomach pain which led him to the emergency room. He explained that his appendix had a hole in it – it hadn’t fully burst, but was very close to doing so.

He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

During a soccer game against Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle, a midfielder for Racing Louisville collapsed after only a few minutes of play.

According to Reuters, the U.S. Women’s National Team player sat down on the field with a teammate supporting her, and then quickly collapsed. Trainers were called to assess her condition.

Oh my gosh, I was so worried! The NWSL posted on X that Savannah got hurt during the game and they immediately rushed to help her right on the field. They said she was taken to the hospital just to check everything out, but thankfully, they said she’s stable and awake! I’m still so relieved to hear she’s okay, honestly. It was so scary!

Adam Devine revealed that injuries from a childhood accident – he was hit by a cement truck at age 11 – continue to cause him problems now.

I was absolutely devastated hearing Devine talk about it on Graham Bensinger’s podcast! He said it’s been a total nightmare, and he’s been having spasms everywhere. Can you believe it? He actually said the doctors told him he was dying – like, seriously, within the last year! It just breaks my heart to think about what he’s been going through. I’ve listened to that part of the interview like a hundred times, and it still gets me every time.

He explained that his pain is intermittent, saying his body has some minor imperfections and isn’t quite working as it should.

A former contestant on The Bachelor had to be hospitalized after experiencing severe back pain. He described having to crawl to get help, and said the pain worsened during a recent road trip with a friend.

I was sharing on my podcast recently how strange my body has been feeling. I still get tingling sensations all the way down to my toes, which is really odd! To give you some context, just a few weeks ago I was comfortably squatting almost 300 pounds. Now? I can barely stand on one foot, let alone do a squat. It’s a really unsettling feeling, honestly – it feels like I’ve had a stroke or something. It’s definitely a reminder that our bodies can change quickly, and we need to listen to what they’re telling us.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Gina Kirschenheiter, from The Real Housewives of Orange County, revealed that her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, had a heart attack in March 2025, but he is recovering well.

In March 2025, the actor known for 30 Rock experienced a medical issue at a New York Knicks game and had to be taken out of Madison Square Garden in a wheelchair.

The comedian later posted on social media to explain that he hadn’t been feeling well due to food poisoning, but was now recovering.

In February 2025, the former Even Stevens star revealed she was shot in the face during a birthday outing with her husband, Brendan Rooney. They were on a trip to go clay pigeon shooting when the incident occurred.

In an Instagram post, she explained that she was accidentally shot in the face by someone at a party who fired a weapon unsafely. Thankfully, @thebrendanrooney quickly helped her, evaluated her injuries, and got her to the hospital. She was hit five times, and one bullet narrowly missed her right eye, coming within an inch of a direct hit.

The former Kim Possible star shared that a small piece of something is stuck behind their eye. Doctors have advised against removing it with surgery right now, and they’ll be keeping a close watch on the situation, but thankfully, their vision is currently normal.

Oh my gosh, she actually said she’s just so thankful to still be here! It absolutely broke my heart, but in the best way, you know? She was talking about how much she loves her daughters, her husband, her whole family and all her friends… it was so sweet! She said she literally saw her whole life go by, and honestly, it made me want to just run and hug everyone I know. She’s so right – things can change in an instant, and you need to tell people you love them while you can. I’m just so glad she’s okay!

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its often negative side, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier,” Schumer was surprised when doctors began commenting on interviews, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome, a condition often linked to high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This prompted her to realize she’d received steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section. Without the online commentary, she might never have connected the injections to her symptoms and received a diagnosis. She recently shared that discovering she had a form of Cushing syndrome that would resolve on its own was wonderful news, and she’s relieved to be healthy.

In December 2024, an AHL player suffered a skate cut during a game and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald shared with ESPN how relieved they were, saying, “We feel very fortunate, and no parent should have to go through that.”

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly began having stroke-like symptoms, initially unable to respond when Justin asked if she was alright. She then realized she couldn’t speak and the right side of her face started to droop.

Although the symptoms eventually passed, Hailey went to the hospital where doctors discovered she’d had a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack).

Further testing at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). Doctors determined the blood clot had traveled to her heart, passed through the PFO, and then reached her brain, causing the TIA.

Hailey has since undergone a successful procedure to close the hole in her heart and is now doing well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained that the virus affected the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it had become increasingly difficult for him to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well, and while the situation had been frightening, he was going to be okay and was thankfully doing much better.

Jamie Foxx recently shared details about the health scare he experienced in April 2023, which he had initially kept private. In his 2024 Netflix special, What Had Happened Was…, he explained that he suffered a severe headache while in Atlanta and lost consciousness before he could even take an aspirin. He doesn’t remember the next 20 days.

He initially saw a doctor who gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, became concerned and took him to the hospital. Doctors discovered he had a brain bleed which led to a stroke.

Twenty days after surgery, on May 4th, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying, “I needed every prayer.”

The reality TV star said she briefly stopped breathing while running a mile during the first challenge on the NBC show.

She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, she remembered only darkness, followed by light, which led her to realize she had died that day.

She explained that her organs were failing. She hadn’t known she had rhabdomyolysis, a condition where your body essentially begins to shut down.

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for The New Yorker. While filming the series, she experienced a sudden, severe headache while at the gym. She described collapsing and being violently ill, realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.

A hospital scan revealed she’d suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain – due to a ruptured aneurysm. She immediately underwent surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, leaving her unable to speak coherently.

Though the aphasia eventually passed and she was discharged after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This procedure failed, causing a major bleed and putting her life at risk. Doctors had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.

Fortunately, Emilia reports she has now made a full recovery and is at 100%.

Cori Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s daughter, is thankful for the support of her family. In January 2024, she suffered a stroke and immediately reached out to her loved ones, who quickly came to her aid. Cori ended up staying in the hospital longer than expected due to other health issues – she was also struggling with lupus and kidney problems. Thankfully, Cori is now recovering well. She says she’s feeling great and has been working to regain some motor skills, but is otherwise doing fine.

Shailene Woodley struggled with significant health issues throughout her 20s. In a September 2024 podcast interview, she explained that she experienced hearing loss, debilitating fatigue, and severe stomach pain. She faced a confusing array of diagnoses from different doctors. Determined to find answers, Woodley, who has a background in herbalism, sought help from both traditional doctors and alternative healers. This search for well-being lasted for ten years. The physical discomfort led to emotional challenges, including fear of food and issues with body image and self-identity. Ultimately, Woodley was able to resolve her health problems and is now feeling very healthy and happy.
