Major Sims Competitor 7 Years in the Making Gets New Gameplay Trailer Ahead of Early Access Release

I’ve been following Paralives since it was first announced way back in 2019, and like a lot of life sim fans, I’m really excited about it! It was originally supposed to come out in Early Access in December 2025, but the developers decided to push it back a bit to make sure it’s perfect. What I really like about Paralives – and what sets it apart from games like inZOI – is that it’s not trying to be super realistic. It has this really cute, cartoonish style, which is great because hopefully it means people with less powerful PCs – like mine! – will still be able to play and enjoy it.

The life simulation game Paralives will become available in Early Access on May 25th at 10 AM Eastern Time. While supporters on Patreon have been seeing updates regularly, it’s been a while since the general public has gotten a good look at the game. Today, just before the Early Access launch next week, a new gameplay trailer was released, giving fans a detailed preview of what it will be like to play Paralives.

New Paralives Gameplay Trailer Shows off Classic Life Sim Chaos & Coziness

Fans have been eagerly awaiting Paralives, and a recent gameplay preview suggests it will live up to the hype. The developers just shared a detailed update on what to expect when the Early Access version launches on May 25th. Players will be able to create unique characters (Paras), manage their lives, and build relationships. While this initial release focuses on the core gameplay, many more features are planned for building, everyday life, and character customization.

The game Paralives is launching in Early Access around May 25th, but it won’t be complete. The developers anticipate working on it for about two years, gradually adding features like cars, pets, and more detailed family interactions. After six years of development, they’re ready for players to try it out and provide feedback, which will help them refine the gameplay and add even more customization options for characters and homes. However, the latest trailer shows that several core features will be available from the beginning.

The new 9-minute trailer gives a detailed look at how you can create and customize your Paras, changing both how they look and their personalities. It also introduces the Storytellers, who influence the game’s settings and how challenging it is. You can tweak these settings to create a gameplay experience perfectly suited to how you want to manage your Paras’ lives. The trailer showcases the starting neighborhood, building options, and lots of gameplay footage. Honestly, it’s made me even more eager to finally play this game!

This game has many of the features players expect from a life simulation game like The Sims, including job options, town exploration, and even the occasional kitchen fire! Paralives seems to successfully blend relaxing and unpredictable gameplay, which is exactly what fans of the genre are looking for. Even in its early stages, it looks promising as a new alternative to The Sims 4 that players have been waiting for.

Paralives became available for PC and Mac users through Steam Early Access on May 25th. If you’d like to be notified the instant the game is available to download, you can add it to your Steam wishlist.
