So, Nintendo did its thing with the new Pokémon Winds and Waves back in February – they just dropped a trailer and then went totally quiet. It’s supposed to come out in 2027 for the Switch 2, but it looks like Amazon Germany messed up and listed it for €79.99 already! Talk about a leak!
The game will likely cost $79.99 in the US. This is because Nintendo is now pricing physical copies of its new Switch 2 games differently than the digital versions. For example, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book costs $60 to download but $70 as a physical copy, and the new Star Fox game will be $50 digitally and $60 if you buy it in stores.
It looks like physical copies of Pokémon Winds and Waves will cost $80, just like other first-party Switch 2 games. This puts us back in a similar situation to 2025 when Mario Kart World was the first game to launch at that higher price point – and it was available both physically and digitally.
We still need an official confirmation from Nintendo, but recent online store listings suggest something might be revealed at the next Nintendo Direct. That event is expected to happen around mid-June, possibly shortly after the Summer Game Fest. This could mean the Direct will be a broad presentation of news, rather than a smaller showcase focused on partner games. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
