PlayStation Confirms June 2026 State of Play (& New Look at Marvel’s Wolverine)

Summer gaming events are coming up fast! In addition to the Summer Game Fest, rumors point to a Nintendo Direct happening next month. Now, PlayStation has announced its own event – a new State of Play – which will stream on June 2nd at 5 PM Eastern Time. It’s scheduled to last over an hour, so PlayStation fans can expect a lot of exciting announcements.

The upcoming State of Play will heavily feature Marvel’s Wolverine, a game scheduled to launch on September 15th. We’re expecting a detailed look at how the game plays. The presentation will be over an hour long and include plenty of other PlayStation news and announcements, in addition to Marvel’s Wolverine. Here’s how to watch and a preview of what else to expect.

What to Expect for the June 2026 PlayStation State of Play

As a PlayStation gamer, I always get hyped for their State of Play events – they usually drop some big news about upcoming games. We often see a ton of focus on PlayStation exclusives, like the new Marvel’s Wolverine game, which is awesome. But it’s not always just exclusives. Recently, PlayStation said they’re planning to release fewer single-player games on PC, so I’m guessing anything new they show off in this showcase will likely be PS5 exclusives. Fingers crossed for some cool reveals!

Details about the upcoming State of Play are still limited, as it’s still two weeks away. However, we now know it will be broadcast on YouTube and Twitch on June 2nd at 5 PM Eastern Time. The main focus will be on Marvel’s Wolverine, with a detailed look at its combat and some new information. There’s also speculation that we might finally get an official announcement and first glimpse of Hogwarts Legacy 2, but that hasn’t been officially confirmed.

The showcase will also include a one-hour segment with updates, announcements, and gameplay footage from several game developers. We’re expecting to learn about new games coming exclusively to PlayStation 5, and there’s a chance we’ll get a first look at Naughty Dog’s upcoming project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Since there aren’t many major PS5 exclusives currently announced, we’ll likely see reveals of games planned for release in 2027 and beyond.

Regarding the PS6, State of Play events usually focus on game announcements and updates, but they sometimes include hardware reveals. I don’t expect to hear much about the next PlayStation console, but I wouldn’t be completely shocked if Sony showed off some new PlayStation hardware along with the upcoming games for the PS5.

Gaming fans have a lot to look forward to in the first week of June! Between the confirmed PlayStation State of Play on June 2nd and Summer Games Fest on June 5th, along with several other events happening in between, we’re expecting a flood of news and updates about upcoming games. And that’s even if the rumors about a Nintendo Direct later in June don’t turn out to be true.
