Hellraiser PS5’s Latest Trailer Is Too Gruesome for Sony’s YouTube Channel

It seems like ‘Hellraiser: Revival’ isn’t getting much attention, and I’m not sure why that is.

I spent more than an hour playing this game last year and was really captivated by its suspenseful mood and intense action. It feels like the game deliberately tests the limits of its age rating, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it sparked some debate.

The newest trailer for the game, highlighting the Genesis Configuration, has been altered on Sony’s YouTube channel. Violent scenes have been blurred with a VHS effect, but the original, uncensored trailer is available on the game’s official website.

The video centers around the Genesis Configuration, a new take on the iconic Lament Configuration that fans of Clive Barker’s work will remember from his books and films.

This puzzle box is different from the original – it gives the main character a fighting chance against his cruel enemies, letting him use powerful abilities to turn the situation around.

The press release reveals:

Defeat your enemies with brutal executions to gain their essence and unlock powerful abilities using the Genesis Configuration. Control objects with Telekinesis, flinging deadly projectiles like saw blades and spikes at your foes. Harness Pyrokinesis to engulf enemies and the surroundings in scorching flames. Finally, unleash the infamous Hell Chains to relentlessly tear your opponents apart.

The game feels similar to BioShock, letting you use a special ability in one hand and a regular weapon in the other.

I wasn’t able to try out the new superpowers in my hands-on demo last year, but I still had a blast with the classic stealth gameplay. It was really satisfying sneaking around and taking down some of the bad guys with the standard weapons.

I’m really excited about how this game is coming along! I’m hoping it gets the recognition it deserves when it finally comes out later this year. I’ve been following its development and it looks fantastic so far.

There’s still no official release date attached, but I’d expect it to come out before Halloween.
