A major new video game event, called For One Night Only, is coming to the UK on July 29th, 2026. Organizers are calling it the largest UK games showcase of its kind, with a focus on highlighting British-made games to the world.
Several game developers have committed to participate in the showcase, including well-known studios like Criterion, Bossa Studios, Firefly Studios, FuturLab, Huey Games, Huskrafts, IO Interactive, Salix Games, Spiderling Studios, Team 17, Two Point Studios, and Yogscast Games.
UK Interactive Entertainment (Ukie) is hosting an event that will include a Steam sale with over 100 UK-made games at a discount. The event will be filmed at Outernet, London – the UK’s most popular cultural attraction – with a select audience, and then broadcast online for everyone to watch.
As a gamer, I’m really excited to hear about ‘For One Night Only’! Apparently, the UK is packed with incredibly talented game developers, responsible for everything from cool indie games to huge, well-known titles. Ukie’s CEO, Nick Poole, said this event is going to be a special way to celebrate those studios and show off their games to players all over the world. Sounds like we’re in for a night of gameplay, interviews with the people making the games, and even some exclusive announcements – I’m definitely tuning in!
Liquid Crimson, a creative agency, is partnering with the company to help organize the event. Lauran Carter, Communications Director at Liquid Crimson, explained, “The UK is full of incredibly talented people, and we see that firsthand. We want to provide a platform for these teams to showcase their excellent work.”
Australian comedian Bec Hill will host For One Night Only, and has commented on the impressive talent that will be featured at the event.
I’m truly honored to be hosting this event,” she said. “The British games industry consistently produces incredible talent, and it’s both exciting and a little humbling to be among so many creative and skilled people.
Based on the companies attending, we can expect to hear more about IO Interactive’s plans for 007 First Light after its release, a new installment in the Stronghold Crusader series, and potentially a brand-new management simulation game from Two Point Studios.
Because Criterion Games is now identified as part of the Battlefield team, it’s doubtful we’ll hear about a new Burnout racing game at this event.
For One Night Only will happen about a month after the Future Games Show, a major gaming event scheduled to be livestreamed from Los Angeles on June 6th as part of Summer Games Fest. The Future Games Show will include world premieres, exclusive trailers, and a detailed look at gameplay for the upcoming RPG Exodus. Summer Games Fest itself will begin the day before, on June 5th.
