Ubisoft Reports €1.3 Billion in Losses For FY26, Projects More Losses Next Year, Profits in FY28

Ubisoft recently announced its financial results, revealing a loss of approximately €1.3 billion (around $1.40 million) for the fiscal year ending March 31st, 2026. The company’s net bookings also decreased by 17.4 percent compared to the previous year, reaching €1.53 billion.

Ubisoft predicts it will lose roughly €500 million in fiscal year 2027, representing an 8-9% decrease, according to Reuters. However, the company anticipates a return to profitability and positive cash flow by fiscal year 2028, driven by its future game releases which are designed to be highly engaging and encourage player spending.

The company plans to release new installments in its popular franchises—Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon—before the end of March 2029. While details are limited, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe is confirmed to be one of the games launching during this timeframe.

The company experienced significant losses last year, largely due to a major reorganization. This involved combining different franchises and game types under five internal teams, called “Creative Houses.” The changes were announced in January, at the same time the company cancelled several games in development, including the highly anticipated Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake.

Vantage Studios is one of Ubisoft’s creative teams and will be leading development on popular franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six. With Ubisoft also planning future games for the Ghost Recon series, it’s likely that another team, Creative House 2, is actively working on that franchise as well.

Recently, Ubisoft has faced criticism from worker unions due to planned cost reductions and job losses. Following the company’s restructuring and layoffs, the Ubisoft Paris union requested CEO Yves Guillemot’s resignation. Union leaders Marc Rutschlé and Chakib Mataoui voiced concerns about company leadership, specifically accusing Guillemot of favoritism by appointing his son, Charlie Guillemot, as co-CEO of Vantage Studios, and highlighted a lack of diversity within the company.

Recently, Red Storm Entertainment experienced layoffs, impacting roughly 105 employees. The team had been working on about ten projects, including popular games like Brawlhalla, Beyond Good and Evil 2, and The Division 2.

Ubisoft is preparing to launch a complete remake of their 2013 game, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, called Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. A recent trailer highlighted the game’s core mechanics, showing gameplay without any on-screen interface elements.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on July 9th.
