Sony’s State of Play presentation on June 2nd will definitely showcase more than just Marvel’s Wolverine. While Sony has already announced a detailed look at the game, reliable leaker NateTheHate claims other PlayStation 5 exclusives will also be featured. He didn’t reveal which games to expect, but confirmed it won’t only be Marvel’s Wolverine and the recently teased new God of War title.
Beyond confirming that Marvel’s Wolverine will be featured at State of Play, Sony hasn’t revealed much about what else to expect. This has sparked a lot of guesses, with some hoping to see the first gameplay footage of Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic. Other games anticipated at the showcase include Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, and Bungie’s Marathon, which is launching its second season, NIGHTFALL, on the same day.
So, there’s been a lot of buzz about a new God of War game coming out this year, and for a while now, people were saying we’d see something in April. I was hearing the same thing – last month, I heard from a reliable source that the announcement was coming very soon, and specifically in April. It sounds like the rumors are still pointing to that timeframe!
So, I’ve been hearing some crazy rumors about the next God of War game. Apparently, they’re not just sticking with Greek and Norse mythology this time. Word is they’re planning to throw in elements from Chinese and Japanese folklore too, and even some Mayan stuff! It sounds like they’re really going all-out with different mythologies, which honestly, I’m super excited about.
Marvel’s Wolverine is scheduled to launch on September 15th and will only be available on PlayStation 5. The game will likely cost $69.99, similar to other PlayStation exclusives. While the game isn’t available for pre-order yet, Insomniac Games explained on social media that they want to share more gameplay footage before opening pre-orders.
Sony is counting on Marvel’s Wolverine, planned for release in 2026, to be a major driver of sales. During a November 2025 investor call, CFO Lin Tao stated that while the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 on November 19th is expected to boost sales, Marvel’s Wolverine will be a key title providing significant growth for the company.
Aside from a gameplay trailer, not much is known about Marvel’s Wolverine. The trailer did highlight the game’s violent combat, showing that players will be able to brutally take apart enemies as Logan.
We have a general idea of how long this project has been in the works. Liam J. McIntyre, who voices the main character James “Logan” Howlett, mentioned he’d been involved for nearly as long as his son has been alive. It’s important to remember, though, that McIntyre likely joined the project once it was already quite far along in development.
