PS5’s Superhero Fighter Is Taking Over Marvel Comics

Sony’s Marvel Token: Fighting Souls will feature a 10-hour story mode that plays out like a dynamic comic book, with exciting fights breaking up the narrative.

For those interested in learning more about the game’s story, Marvel is releasing a special single-issue comic book that will explore the characters and the wider world of the game in greater detail.

Steve Orlando, Tom Waltz, and Josh Trujillo wrote Marvel Tokon: First Strike #1, and Bruno Büll, Áthila Fabbio, and Ryusei Yamada provided the artwork.

The comic book will explore what drives The Promoter, the game’s strange and powerful villain. He’s a cosmic showman who runs a dangerous competition where the whole world is at risk.

This special issue will have two different cover options. One cover will showcase artwork by Juan Frigeri and Ryan Stegman, while the other will feature art by Michele Bandini.

This year, Marvel will also be advertising the new game in 20 different comic book titles. Special variant covers are planned for popular series like Amazing Spider-Man, X-Men, and Captain America, and will be released over the next several months.

The confirmed variants so far are as follows, with more to come as the full roster is revealed:

  • Amazing Spider-Man #35 (Spider-Man)
  • Avengers Armageddon #3 (Star Lord)
  • Captain America #14 (Captain America)
  • Doomquest #4 (Doctor Doom)
  • Inglorious Force #8 (Ms Marvel)
  • Iron Man #8 (Iron Man)
  • Marc Spector: Moon Knight #7 (Ghost Rider)
  • Uncanny X-Men #33 (Danger)
  • Wolverine #26 (Wolverine)
  • X-Men #35 (Magik)

Plus, for even more Marvel and PS5 content, keep in mind that issue #25 of Wolverine will feature a special cover highlighting the upcoming Insomniac game. This cover is inspired by a memorable comic from 1991.
