Every Daredevil: Born Again Character, Ranked By Power

The new Daredevil: Born Again series is here, bringing back familiar heroes and villains alongside some exciting new faces. With some characters now significantly more powerful than before – even compared to the original Netflix series – we’ve put together a power ranking of every character from seasons 1 and 2, from weakest to strongest.

The comic series Born Again features a large cast, but most of the characters are ordinary people. This list will only rank those with superpowers or exceptional strength, as it’s impossible to compare normal humans. While characters like Karen Page, Vanessa Fisk, and Officer Powell are enjoyable, they wouldn’t be able to compete with the more powerful individuals. Keeping that in mind, here’s a ranking of Born Again‘s strongest characters.

10) Swordsman

Jack Duquense, also known as Swordsman, is a rich and influential vigilante who appears in both Hawkeye and Daredevil: Born Again. He’s an exceptionally talented swordsman, capable of defeating even highly trained agents. Despite his skill, he doesn’t have any superhuman strength, speed, or toughness. Without a weapon in his hand, Jack is essentially just a normal person.

9) Angela Del Toro

As a big fan of the Born Again series, I’ve been really following Angela del Toro’s journey as the new White Tiger. It’s awesome to see her step up after her uncle’s passing and she definitely proves she can fight, even holding her own against those AVTF agents! While she’s clearly skilled in martial arts and super agile, she’s still finding her feet and, honestly, feels a bit less powerful than her uncle was. She’s great with a blade, but I’m a little frustrated that the show never really dives into what exactly that White Tiger amulet does for her. It feels like a missed opportunity to really explore her powers.

8) Muse

Muse is a relatively small-scale villain in the first season of Born Again, but he’s quickly become a dangerous opponent. Though he doesn’t have the same superhuman abilities as the Muse from the comics, he’s an exceptionally talented martial artist capable of going toe-to-toe with Daredevil. He’s also a skilled acrobat and has a powerful psychological impact on those he meets, particularly Heather Glenn.

7) The Punisher

Adding Frank Castle, the Punisher, to this list is debatable since he’s fundamentally a human with weapons. However, the TV series The Punisher demonstrates a remarkable level of durability. Throughout the show, Frank withstands an incredible amount of gunfire with minimal lasting injury. While technically human, he might be the strongest normal human in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Let me tell you, Frank Castle – the Punisher – is a master of weapons. I remember watching The Punisher: One Last Kill and being blown away by how effortlessly he took down waves of criminals, purely because he’s just so much better at fighting. His Marine background gave him incredible skills with everything from hand-to-hand combat to guns, but honestly, it’s his complete lack of hesitation to kill that really makes him a frightening opponent.

6) Hector Ayala

Hector Ayala doesn’t last long in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, but he quickly establishes himself as a formidable vigilante. We see him easily take down criminals thanks to his impressive agility and strength. He’s ultimately killed in an ambush by a member of an Anti-Vigilante Task Force, though he likely would have won in a straight fight.

Understanding Hector’s powers is tricky because the Born Again story doesn’t clearly explain their origin. We know his abilities come from a magical White Tiger amulet, which appears to make him a better fighter, but the extent of its influence is unknown. It’s unclear whether his fighting skills are ones he learned himself, or if they’re a result of the amulet’s power. Regardless, Hector is a very strong hero, and we might have seen even more of his strength if he’d appeared in more stories.

5) Kingpin

I’ve been really impressed with how powerful Wilson Fisk has become since coming back to the MCU. It’s honestly terrifying – he can now crush someone’s head with his bare hands! He’s incredibly durable, able to withstand serious punishment, and just throws people around like it’s nothing. He gives Daredevil a real run for his money in a fight, and even when Daredevil does win, it’s a brutal, exhausting battle. It takes a lot to actually take Fisk down.

Considering his appearance in Hawkeye, Kingpin actually seems even stronger than Born Again suggests. The series shows him taking multiple trick arrows without much difficulty, and he’s able to fight effectively against both Kate Bishop and Echo, despite ultimately losing. While Kingpin’s power largely comes from his ability to manipulate people, he’s also incredibly physically strong, making his threats believable.

4) Bullseye

Benjamin Pointdexter isn’t a hero with powers or special abilities. He’s simply an incredibly skilled marksman. His precision makes him Daredevil’s most dangerous enemy, instilling fear in anyone who opposes him. Though Daredevil has defeated him before, Pointdexter consistently presents the greatest challenge of any villain he faces.

3) Jessica Jones

By the time we meet Jessica Jones, she’s already given up being a superhero, so she doesn’t often use her powers. But the show Born Again still highlights her incredible strength and ability to withstand damage, letting her fight off large groups of heavily armored agents on her own. There are moments in season 2 where her powers unexpectedly fail, giving opponents a small window to potentially defeat her. However, this doesn’t significantly diminish how powerful she is overall.

2) Daredevil

Though not physically super-strong, Daredevil’s other abilities make him a formidable force in Born Again. His heightened senses let him avoid attacks, anticipate opponents’ actions, and even ‘see’ how many people are present before he enters a room, making it extremely difficult to catch him off guard and giving him a significant edge in combat. Combined with his exceptional martial arts skills, this explains how he’s able to defeat so many enemies and AVTF agents throughout the story.

1) Luke Cage

As a big fan of the Marvel Netflix shows, I have to say, even with just that quick cameo in Born Again season 2, Luke Cage is clearly the most powerful character we’ve seen so far. Seriously, the guy is incredibly strong and practically invulnerable – it would take some serious firepower to even scratch him! Unlike Daredevil, Jessica Jones, or Iron Fist who are constantly getting roughed up, Luke barely takes a hit. Honestly, I think he could handle almost anyone in Born Again with ease, making him the strongest character by a mile.

Interestingly, Luke Cage’s powers aren’t really on display in Born Again. He only makes a brief appearance at the end, having a quiet reunion with Jessica. However, Mr. Charles reveals that Luke has been secretly working on dangerous missions for the government, showing they still see him as a valuable hero. It’s likely Luke has become even more powerful since Luke Cage season 2, and fans are hoping to see that demonstrated if he returns in Daredevil: Born Again season 3.
