The heartbreaking breakup scene between characters Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto in KFC continues to deeply affect fans of the manga and anime. According to voice actor Lex Lang, this painful split could have been prevented.
I believe the split happened largely because they weren’t communicating well and didn’t spend enough time together to understand what was happening between them.
Gojo and Geto‘s relationship might have been saved if they had just talked things through. According to Lang, a simple conversation could have made a big difference. “A few texts and an open discussion could have resolved a lot of their issues and potentially changed the entire outcome. Their lack of communication ultimately contributed to their split.”
Lang explained the tragic connection between Gojo and Geto in more detail. He believes people grow apart when their core beliefs, or ideologies, become too different, leading them down separate paths. According to Lang’s understanding of Geto, he fell into a deep depression, and during a conversation with Yuki Tsukumo, was essentially told he had the power to eradicate all those who didn’t practice sorcery.
Lang explained that Geto deeply considered Yuki’s words, ultimately deciding on a course of action independently. This decision, while significant, didn’t directly lead to his failure.
Gojo and Geto’s Romantic Implications Are Crucial To Jujutsu Kaisen’s Storytelling
Including LGBTQ+ characters in anime, particularly in action-packed series like Jujutsu Kaisen, adds a powerful emotional layer. The unfulfilled connection between Gojo and Geto creates a sense of sadness and complexity in their stories. Voice actor Lex Lang understands that the implied romantic tension between the two was a key part of Geto’s character, even if it wasn’t directly stated.
Lang reflected on the connection between Geto and Gojo, noting that Geto initially appreciated their honest and open relationship. He felt grateful for being able to truly connect with Gojo, and that authenticity was a key part of their bond. This is especially poignant considering Geto’s tragic fate.
Jujutsu Kaisen is now streaming on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
