New Legend of Zelda Release Brings Nintendo Fans Back to the 3DS

A brand new Legend of Zelda game is bringing Nintendo fans back to the 3DS era of the popular action-adventure series. Alongside Mario, Zelda is one of Nintendo’s most iconic franchises, and it consistently delivers high-quality games. While some Zelda games are better than others, the series has never had a truly disappointing release. This new, smaller game will especially please fans who enjoyed the Zelda titles on the 3DS.

Nintendo recently added the soundtrack for The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds to Nintendo Music, giving fans who played the game on 3DS a chance to relive the music. This joins a growing collection of Zelda soundtracks already available, including those from Phantom Hourglass, Zelda II – The Adventure of Link, Ocarina of Time 3D, Tears of the Kingdom, The Legend of Zelda (NES), A Link to the Past, The Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time, and Breath of the Wild.

If you’re unfamiliar, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is the seventeenth installment in The Legend of Zelda series and a direct follow-up to the classic The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past from 1991. Originally released only for the 3DS, it remains exclusive to that system, making it somewhat difficult to play in 2026. Like many Nintendo games, it received excellent reviews, boasting a score of 91 on Metacritic. Currently, Nintendo hasn’t announced any plans to re-release or update the game, and it’s unlikely they will, given their limited engagement with their 3DS library on the Switch 2.

Nintendo Music is an app for Nintendo Switch Online members. It’s currently only available to subscribers on both the original Switch and the new Switch 2. With the app, players can download a wide range of Nintendo music and make their own playlists to share with others. New music is added a few times each month.
