When Kpop Demon Hunters quietly debuted on Netflix in June 2025, few predicted its massive success. But almost a year later, it’s become one of the platform’s biggest hits ever. The show gained popularity through positive word-of-mouth, great reviews, and a memorable soundtrack, and has been incredibly popular for the last 11 months. Even after winning several Oscars this year, it continues to attract a large audience each week. Now, with the latest developments, this animated series is close to achieving something many once thought was impossible.
From May 11th to 17th, the movie Kpop Demon Hunters ranked as the 6th most popular title on Netflix worldwide. It garnered 3.8 million views and a total of 6.4 million hours of watch time. This marked the 48th straight week the film appeared in Netflix’s global top 10. However, its 46-week run in the U.S. top 10 has come to an end.
Can Kpop Demon Hunters‘ Streak Extend to 52 Weeks?

With just four weeks to go, Kpop Demon Hunters is on track to stay in Netflix’s global top 10 for an entire year – a first for any movie or show on the platform. The big question now is whether it can maintain its popularity for one more month. However, it appears well-positioned to do so. Even after nearly a year, the movie continues to attract a significant audience, proving its lasting appeal. It’s likely to remain a hit for the foreseeable future.
Throughout the past month, Kpop Demon Hunters has consistently received around the same number of views each week. It had 3.6 million views for the week of May 4th-10th, compared to 3.9 million the previous week. While this is a slight decrease from the average of 4.56 million weekly views it received from March 30th to April 26th, it’s unlikely to fall out of the top 10 anytime soon. Mechanic: Resurrection and I Am Legend both had 2.8 million views and tied for tenth place from May 11th-17th, meaning Kpop Demon Hunters could lose about a million views and still remain in the top 10.
While the film’s performance in the U.S. has declined – it recently dropped from the No. 5 spot after 46 weeks – it’s still doing well globally. Views actually increased slightly last week compared to when it left the American charts, suggesting its international fanbase is keeping numbers strong. At this point, it would be surprising if the film didn’t stay on the charts for a full 52 weeks.
It’s fascinating to consider what could eventually cause Kpop Demon Hunters to leave the global top 10. This is a very unusual situation, as most popular movies and shows have a limited run at the top before their popularity decreases – whether in theaters or on streaming. For example, other big Netflix hits this spring, like Thrash and Roommates, only stayed in the top 10 for a few weeks. Kpop Demon Hunters has far exceeded all expectations, and it’s difficult to imagine the Netflix charts without it. When it eventually drops out of the top 10, it might be even more surprising than its current long run.
