The Elbaph arc dramatically changes the story’s focus, centering on the struggles for power among the world’s strongest fighters. It brings together characters with ancient ancestry, immense size, and unique fighting skills, completely changing what it means to be powerful. Each battle reveals new levels of resilience, speed, and sheer destructive capability. As a result, the established order is shaken, and even the most respected warriors are forced to prove themselves.
Some characters are such powerful fighters that they redefine what we think is possible in battle and resilience. The Elbaph arc expertly builds suspense by continually raising the stakes with each fight, where the consequences are massive. These battles force even the most renowned warriors to evolve and overcome new challenges, as abilities are revealed that push the boundaries of power within the world of One Piece.
Shepherd Sommers Shows Immortality’s Limits When Faced With Advanced Conqueror’s Haki
Shepherd’s Thorn-Thorn Fruit gives him the strength to restrain even the most formidable opponents, and his unique connection with Imu effectively makes him immortal. Together, these abilities make Shepherd Sommers incredibly difficult to defeat with typical attacks.
Scopper Gaban quickly revealed the extent of Sommers’ limitations. Even so, Sommers remains a formidable opponent in the Elbaph Arc of One Piece. He later gained Imu’s Omen ability, becoming ‘Super Sommers’ and gaining the power of flight, along with incredible strength – enough to easily lift and throw a giant’s ship.
Killingham Is a Nightmare Engine That Turns a Battlefield Into a Trap
Karin, Killangham’s unique ability, lets him bring the worst fears of people around him to life, while also making him incredibly strong and bestial. He demonstrated this power on Elbaph, where it caused widespread chaos without him even having to fight. The more fear and trauma someone experiences, the more potent and dangerous Killangham’s nightmares become.
I’m absolutely fascinated by Killingham! The fact that Imu gave him the Depth Covenant essentially made him immortal – it’s wild to think he’s still functioning even after losing his body in the Elbaph Arc! And it gets even crazier: after getting that upgrade from Imu’s Omen, his power skyrocketed. That’s why Gaban noticed something seriously off with his Haki – it was completely different than anything he’d seen before.
Dorry and Brogy Are The Strongest Giants Turned Against Their Own Island
Before Imu got involved, Dorry and Brogy on Egghead Island had already proven their strength by destroying the Victoria Punk, defeating the Kid Pirates, and withstanding a powerful shockwave from Warcury—all without sustaining damage. With combined bounties of 1.8 billion berries, earned over a hundred years of consistent success, they were clearly top-tier fighters even before the events of the Elbaph arc began.
Domi Reversi took away Dorry and Brogy’s free will and then used dark magic to further enhance their already immense strength and size. Imu selected them specifically because their natural power made them ideal for fighting Jarul and the other giants.
Gunko Got Four Straw Hats Down Without Even Using Her Full Power
Gunko creates arrow-shaped ribbons that she uses as weapons in many ways at once. She can transform them into flying objects, enormous gloves, and even redirect enemy attacks. She managed to defeat four members of the Straw Hat crew one after another, including Jinbe, who is known for his incredible strength and resilience as a Fishman Karate expert in One Piece.
Gunko acts as a physical body for Imu, allowing him to take control of her and amplify her abilities, particularly her Conqueror’s Haki. He defeated Gaban by using her son, Colon, as a bargaining chip, showing that she’s not only incredibly strong but also a clever strategist.
Scopper Hurt a Knight of God Before Luffy Could
Gaban infused his two axes with Conqueror’s Haki and sliced right through Shepherd Sommers, despite Sommers having previously been unaffected by physical attacks. Neither Luffy nor Loki had managed to harm Sommers alone during the Elbaph Arc until they combined their efforts, but Gaban accomplished this feat single-handedly, while Sommers was still at full strength.
During the quick clash between Luffy and Zoro, Gaban’s wind-blade attack sliced right through Aurust Castle and continued cutting into the clouds, demonstrating the power to potentially destroy an island. Remarkably, Gaban accomplished this feat using only his Haki, without any weapons or a traditional attack. Even the severe injuries he eventually received from Gunko weren’t the result of being defeated in a fair fight, but rather from a hostage situation.
Zoro’s Advanced Conqueror’s Haki Becomes the Defining Threshold Against Super Sommers
Gaban clearly stated that Zoro needs to master Advanced Conqueror’s Haki to win against Super Sommers, and the fight in Chapter 1182 was designed to push Zoro to unlock this power. Considering Zoro previously defeated King, a member of the extremely rare Lunarian race, and Rob Lucci, the most powerful agent of CP-0, he’s already proven to be stronger than the God Knights of Elbaph.
During the Elbaph Arc, Zoro defeats a massive giant called Domi Reversi with a single, powerful strike using his new attack, Red Ogre Mega Rage. However, because Imu has significantly strengthened Sommers, Zoro needs to master Advanced Conqueror’s Haki to have a chance at winning against him.
Luffy’s Gear 5 Dependence Marks His Entry Into Endgame-Level Threat Escalation
Scopper Gaban deliberately pushed Luffy to activate his Gear 5 transformation, even while holding back himself, revealing that Luffy now relies on this powerful form during actual battles and when facing intense challenges. This was further emphasized when Luffy and Loki later fought Sommers, requiring both of them to exert their maximum effort.
The clearest evidence of this is Luffy’s victory over Kaido, who withstood relentless assaults from nearly everyone on the island for days.
Shamrock’s Immortal Covenant and Cerberus Power Make Him Elbaph’s Strongest Knight
Shamrock’s Cerberus, a powerful and independently thinking mythical beast, split into three heads and severely wounded Loki, keeping him out of action for months. This attack happened despite Loki already enduring years of magical chains and withstanding numerous assaults from Gunko. Cerberus is exceptionally strong, enhanced by both its own natural power and Shamrock’s Haki, a special energy that further boosts its abilities.
Shamrock’s deal with Imu gives him both immortality and the power to instantly travel between dimensions – the same ability the Five Elders demonstrated on Egghead. Considering the Elders were already incredibly powerful before losing their abilities, Shamrock, who is younger and a skilled fighter, now represents the greatest threat in this story arc.
Loki’s Nidhoggr Transformation Surpasses Kaido Through Size And Haki Scaling
Jarul, the oldest giant on Elbaph and keeper of the Harley texts, has verified that the size of Niddhoggr’s dragon form is linked to the user’s own size. Since Loki has ancient giant ancestry and is much larger than a typical giant, his dragon transformation is the biggest ever seen in One Piece, even exceeding the size of Kaido’s Azure Dragon.
In addition to the Niddhoggr fruit, Loki possesses Ragnir, a hammer that absorbs the energy of Ratatoskr and creates both lightning and ice attacks. Combining these two powerful Devil Fruit abilities with his status as an Ancient Giant and incredibly strong Conqueror’s Haki—powerful enough to resist Domi Reversi—puts Loki in a top tier, surpassed only by Shanks and Imu. His battle with Imu at the Adam Tree proved he’s capable of actually hitting the King of the World.
Imu’s Versatility Surpasses All Known One Piece Combatants
In chapter 1180, Zoro used his powerful Three Sword Style – the same technique that defeated Rob Lucci – against Imu. Imu easily blocked the attack with his tail, then swiftly countered with Omen, knocking Zoro down. Remarkably, Imu then used Omen again to completely revive Sommers, a God Knight previously defeated by Luffy and Loki. Performing these two separate actions on different opponents with such ease demonstrates Imu’s incredible versatility in One Piece.
Imu stands out from all other characters because he uniquely combines three powerful abilities: Domi Reversi, Covenants, and Omen. Furthermore, Gaban observed that Imu’s Haki during the events at Elbaph is significantly stronger than it was decades ago at God Valley, indicating that Imu has continued to grow in power, despite others believing he had already reached his peak.
