Netflix is About to Lose One of Paramount’s Biggest Animated Series

The competition among streaming services is getting fiercer as they all fight for viewers. It’s common for shows originally made by one studio to end up on rival platforms, and that’s happening again next month. A popular animated series from Paramount, originally aired on Nickelodeon, is leaving Netflix. Since fans consider it one of the best installments in the franchise, you should probably catch the ‘Heroes in a Half Shell’ adventures while you still can.

While there have been many versions of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, fans often consider the 2018 Nickelodeon series, The Rise of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, to be a standout. The show ran for two seasons and concluded with a full-length movie. If you’re a Netflix subscriber, you’ll want to watch it before June 1st, as it will be removed from the platform. However, don’t worry – just because it’s leaving Netflix doesn’t mean you won’t be able to find it elsewhere in the future.

Don’t Make Turtle Soup Too Soon

I’m so glad that The Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie is staying on Netflix! Because it was made for the platform, we won’t have to worry about it disappearing when the main series moves. Speaking of the series, don’t panic if you heard it’s leaving Netflix – you can still catch all the action over on Paramount+! And the good news doesn’t stop there! Netflix is also keeping Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles available, so we’ll still have plenty of Turtle Power to enjoy!

I’ve noticed that after the movie The Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles didn’t really take off, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem completely rebooted things, giving us a brand new world for these characters. It’s a shame Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was canceled after just two seasons, but the good news is a sequel to Mutant Mayhem is planned for 2027. I’m really hoping the cancellation of the show doesn’t derail this promising new direction for the Turtles.

Given the recent changes at Paramount, including its merger with Skydance and potential future merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, it’s not surprising that more Paramount content is being removed from Netflix. The studio now has more control over its titles and may prefer to stream them on its own platform, Paramount+, instead. While the Warner Bros./Paramount merger isn’t finalized, it’s likely to happen, which would further encourage this shift.
