Three classic PlayStation 1 games are currently available as a free remastered collection. While the PS2 era is often celebrated, the PS1 doesn’t receive as much attention. Many original PS1 games, especially those with 3D graphics, haven’t aged well, which is why these remasters are a great option. This collection, originally remastered in 2024, is now being offered for free.
You can get the classic Tomb Raider games—the first three—for free right now on the Epic Games Store until May 28th. Aspyr released remastered versions of these games in 2024, and Epic is giving them away. The original Tomb Raider debuted in 1996, introducing Lara Croft and quickly becoming a hugely popular franchise with a score of 90 on GameRankings. Tomb Raider II followed in 1997 (scoring 84 on GameRankings), and Tomb Raider III arrived in 1998 (with a 78). The remastered collection, Tomb Raider I–III Remastered, has received a score of 75 on Metacritic.
EGS Free Games
The Epic Games Store (EGS) offers free games every week, with new games becoming available each Thursday. If you claim a free game before the weekly reset, you get to keep it forever. Once the reset happens, the offer disappears. Creating an EGS account is completely free – there are no subscriptions or costs involved. While these games have been offered as part of subscriptions before, this is the first time they’re available for free without needing one.
If you get the Tomb Raider I–III Remastered collection for free, be prepared to spend a lot of time playing! The first game takes around 15 to 20 hours to finish, and the third takes about 20 to 25. These games were much longer than most titles from the 1990s.
