5 Powers Even Marvel Forgot Deadpool Had

Deadpool is a surprisingly complex character despite having a straightforward ability. He’s constantly aware of his own flaws and the fact that he’s a comic book character, knowing his life will always reset to unhappiness. Though deeply troubled, he hides his pain with jokes and a constant, futile search for death. Ironically, his power is simply an amazing healing factor – no matter what happens, he always recovers, even if it means completely rebuilding his body.

Deadpool’s abilities are more complex than just his incredible healing factor. While he’s famous for recovering from almost any injury, that power has unexpectedly led to other abilities over time. Surprisingly, Deadpool has demonstrated powers that don’t seem connected to his healing at all, but Marvel often forgets about them. Here are five of those underappreciated powers.

5) Superhuman Strength

Deadpool isn’t as overwhelmingly strong as heroes like the Hulk, but he’s surprisingly muscular for a regular human. He’s lifted over 800 pounds and, in one instance, even broke a man’s neck with just two fingers – something a normal person couldn’t do. Even if we consider his healing ability lets him push his muscles further, he consistently demonstrates a level of strength beyond what you’d expect. It’s not a major superpower, but it’s a useful ability he can rely on when needed.

4) Superhuman Stamina

Deadpool’s healing ability is incredible – he can recover from any injury, even those self-inflicted. While muscles normally get damaged and build up toxins when pushed hard, Deadpool instantly repairs any tears and seems to barely feel the effects of fatigue. His healing factor either neutralizes these fatigue toxins or produces fewer of them, allowing him to fight and heal for days without needing rest. Most people would be completely exhausted after just a few minutes of that level of activity, but Deadpool can keep going and going.

3) Possession Resistance

Deadpool is famously unstable, but surprisingly, this actually helps him sometimes. Because he’s so used to hearing voices, he can recognize when someone is possessing him and still manage to stay relatively in control. For example, in Deadpool Team-Up #897, a demon named Xaphan possessed Wade, but Deadpool was able to keep it together enough to let the Ghost Riders in and avoid causing too much trouble. He can’t outright remove spirits that invade his mind, but he can definitely disrupt their plans while they’re there, which is a unique power in itself.

2) Superhuman Reflexes

Deadpool’s reflexes are as extraordinary as his strength and endurance. He can react incredibly quickly, dodging bullets at close range with ease – something a normal person couldn’t do. While not quite as agile as Spider-Man, Deadpool consistently avoids attacks faster than any typical or even highly athletic human. He often just withstands damage because he’s nearly unkillable, but he’s perfectly capable of dodging bullets and debris whenever he chooses.

1) Telepathic Immunity

Deadpool’s greatest strength isn’t his fighting ability, but his mind. His incredible healing factor constantly rebuilds his brain, causing a chaotic overload of information. This makes it impossible for even powerful telepaths like Emma Frost and Onslaught to read his thoughts – it’s just a scrambled, overwhelming mess. While psychic attacks can still harm him, no one can actually influence or see inside his mind, making him uniquely resistant to mental intrusion in the Marvel Universe.
