Emmerdale airs fresh showdown for Joe Tate and Moira Dingle after Dawn plot in early ITVX release

Please be aware that the following contains spoilers for the episode of the show released on ITVX at 7am and broadcast on ITV1 at 8pm on Monday, May 25th, 2026.

Okay, so as a soap fan, I have to say Monday’s Emmerdale felt like a huge moment in the ongoing drama between the Tates and the Dingles. It really seemed like things escalated and could change everything between those two families.

The two families on the ITV soap have been feuding for months, mainly due to the manipulative actions of Joe Tate. He falsely accused Moira Dingle of being involved in a human trafficking scheme connected to her deceased business partner, Celia Daniels, all in an attempt to take control of Moira’s farm.

Last week, Joe faced a major crisis in his relationship with his pregnant fiancée, Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley). She decided to leave him after taking his money, and Moira helped her do it.

Ultimately, Joe convinced her to remain, and revealed he was responsible for the death of her father, Will Taylor (Dean Andrews). He explained that his unexpected return two Christmases prior had caused Will to suffer a heart attack.

After opening up to Dawn, they managed a fragile reconciliation, but she firmly warned him that if he didn’t stop his plans and fighting, she would leave him permanently.

Dawn told Joe on Monday that while it will take time to regain their trust, she needs to see him take steps to earn it back.

Later in the episode, Joe found Moira attempting to steal some of his livestock. He anticipated a tense and possibly hostile encounter with the man who had been causing her so much trouble.

To the farmer’s surprise, Joe offered a peaceful gesture, hoping to resolve their conflict.

Moira didn’t trust Joe’s unexpected kindness, but he explained he’d do anything to stay connected to Dawn, even if that meant trying to rebuild a relationship with the Dingle family.

Moira reluctantly agreed, but expressed hope that he was being honest for Dawn’s sake. However, we’re not sure if Cain will really be able to stay calm.

Cain had a rough Monday – he was arrested for public urination and disorderly conduct while intoxicated.

Although Joe and Dawn seem to be in a good place right now, things are likely to take a sad turn. Actress Olivia Bromley, who plays Dawn, is leaving the show later this year.

How could Joe and Dawn part ways?

ITV declined to comment when approached by TopMob regarding reports of Dawn’s exit.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX.
