Bandai Namco has revealed the fourth character joining Tekken 8 through the Season 3 Character Pass. In a surprising move, they’ve chosen a guest character from the manga Baki the Grappler: Yujiro Hanma. You can watch the announcement trailer below.
I’m so hyped for Tekken 8! We haven’t gotten a good look at what Yujiro Hanma will actually look like in the game yet – the teaser just used cool artwork from the manga. But the best news is, he’s joining the fight in early 2027! I can’t wait to see him in action.
Yujiro is the father of Baki Hanma, the main character in Baki the Grappler, and a major villain in the series. The complex relationship between father and son makes him a great addition to the Tekken fighting game, as Tekken‘s story began decades ago with a similar conflict: the animosity between Heihachi and his son, Kazuya.
As a huge fan of this manga, one of the coolest things is how Yujiro constantly refers to himself as the ‘Strongest Being on Earth,’ and he totally backs it up! The author shows him doing things that seem physically impossible – he’s unbelievably strong, fast, and flexible. But what’s really interesting is his motivation: he doesn’t just want to be the strongest, he wants a son who can surpass him. That’s why he’s always pushing Baki to his limits, even if it means being a real pain! It’s a tough-love kind of thing, and it makes for some amazing fights.
The Season 3 Character Pass will start releasing new characters on May 27th with Kunimitsu. Roger Jr. will be added in the fall, and Bob, who first appeared in Tekken 6, will be available in winter.
The Kunimitsu appearing in Tekken 8 isn’t the original character from the first Tekken game – she’s actually the original Kunimitsu’s daughter. This version officially joined the story in Tekken 7, though she’s also been featured in non-storyline games like Tekken Tag Tournament and Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
Want to see how Kunimitsu fights in Tekken 8? Check out the gameplay trailer released earlier this month. It shows her using a mix of martial arts, ninja skills, and quick movements to defeat opponents. You’ll see moves like counterattacks, teleports, and even the ability to counter attacks while in the air.
Kunimitsu’s appearance in Tekken 8 introduces some interesting connections. She already knows Reina, a new character in the game, and it’s been revealed that Raven was once trained by her father. It’s currently unclear how these relationships will impact the story as Tekken 8 unfolds.
I’m so hyped for Yujiro to join the fight in Tekken 8! He’s the second big crossover character after Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy 16, who was a great addition with the Season 1 pass. It’s funny, because originally everyone thought Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy 7 would be the first crossover! Now, it’s looking like she might actually be heading to Street Fighter 6 instead as part of their next season pass. What a twist!
