Five years after it aired, an actor from The Book of Boba Fett is still hoping Lucasfilm will bring the show back. While some of the Star Wars series on Disney+ have been hits – like The Mandalorian and Andor – others, including The Book of Boba Fett and The Acolyte, have faced criticism. Many were surprised by the negative reaction to The Book of Boba Fett, given that it focused on the popular character Boba Fett. Despite the show’s divisiveness and its cancellation after one season, a cast member is still optimistic about a potential renewal.
Ming-Na Wen, known for her role as Fennec Shand in the 2021 series, thinks there are still stories to tell with The Book of Boba Fett. While on The Sackhoff Show, she told fans she’d be happy to reprise her role and work alongside Temuera Morrison again if another season happens.
I believe the show’s creators, the fans, and I should collaborate on a second season of The Book of Boba Fett. I feel like there are still many stories left to tell, and the show didn’t fully reach its potential. There’s definitely more to explore.
She’s correct that Lucasfilm has potential to further develop these characters, and a spin-off series focusing on Fennec Shand is a good idea that many fans would enjoy. However, if The Book of Boba Fett were to get a second season, it would need to fix the biggest problem with the first season – and that problem isn’t actually about Boba Fett.
If Book of Boba Fett Returns for Season 2, It Needs to Address Its Biggest Issue

As a huge Star Wars fan, I really wanted to love The Book of Boba Fett. It had so much potential with a cool premise and a fantastic cast, but honestly, it just didn’t deliver. A lot of the criticism centered on how they handled Boba Fett himself – it’s tough to build on a mysterious character, but Lucasfilm clearly wanted to explore him further. But for me, the bigger problem was how much the show relied on The Mandalorian. Season 1 felt less about Boba and Fennec and more like a detour into another series entirely. If they ever bring The Book of Boba Fett back, they need to fix that if they want it to really succeed.
If The Book of Boba Fett gets a second season, it should focus more on Boba Fett and Fennec Shand themselves, rather than relying heavily on characters from The Mandalorian. This would not only improve the story, but also give viewers a chance to truly connect with Boba and Fennec. By making them the central focus, Lucasfilm could build a stronger foundation for future stories set in the Star Wars universe, allowing these characters to fully realize their potential.
