LittleBigPlanet Dev’s Next PS5 Game Could Have Open World Aspects

Media Molecule, the UK-based studio behind the game Dreams, is reportedly working on a more conventional adventure game for their next project. This differs from Dreams, which was a unique platform focused on letting players create their own games, but didn’t achieve widespread success.

We don’t know what the development team is currently working on, but MP1st recently discovered some interesting information about it.

Details on Senior Environment Designer Raphael Kidd’s resume suggest the studio’s upcoming game might feature an open world.

He states in his resume that he leads the creative direction and serves as the primary point of contact for open world game content. He’s also in charge of initially designing and laying out key locations within those worlds.

He says the game is a brand-new project and isn’t connected to any existing series, suggesting it’s a completely original creation from the studio.

Dreams released in 2020 but ceased live service support in 2023.

After some job cuts, the company is likely well into development of its next game. They might even announce it soon, depending on how many projects Sony is currently working on and willing to share.

If their next game is an open world title, I think it will be a unique experience, unlike most sandbox games. Media Molecule usually creates charming and cheerful adventures, so I anticipate something suitable for families – potentially alongside Astro Bot as another family-friendly option for Sony.
