Yellowstone spin-off Marshals reveals new ‘Romeo and Juliet’ storyline in season 1 finale following shock death

The first season of the Yellowstone spin-off, Marshals, has finished airing, and the final episode hints at a possible romance developing in the next season.

The show recently shocked viewers by revealing a major character’s death. Monica Dutton, played by Kelsey Asbille and the wife of Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), was killed off between seasons, with the news revealed in the first episode of season 5.

The first season of Marshals hinted at several possible love interests, including for Deputy US Marshal Andrea Cruz. However, the season finale focused on a developing relationship between Kayce and Dolly Weaver, from Ellyn Jameson’s team.

At the end of the season, Kayce rode away with Dolly, hinting at a possible tragic romance inspired by Romeo and Juliet, considering Dolly’s family background.

Dolly is the daughter of Tom Weaver, who’s been attempting to purchase Kayce’s East Camp. Unbeknownst to Dolly, Tom is a dangerous man solely interested in acquiring the land, and he’s also responsible for the attempts on Thomas Rainwater’s life.

I was completely invested in Kayce and Dolly’s growing connection, but the season finale threw another huge curveball at me! Seeing Cal and Belle, two of Kayce’s fellow Marshals, walk into what turned out to be a trap – a house full of armed attackers – was just terrifying. I was on the edge of my seat worrying about them!

We don’t know how the show will wrap up this dramatic ending, but a second season is already planned.
