After a long wait and a few setbacks, IO Interactive’s 007 First Light is now available—but only for players who purchased the Deluxe Edition. If you pre-ordered the Standard Edition, you can start playing 24 hours before everyone else, ahead of tomorrow’s official launch.
Although it’s just been released, First Light has already attracted over 40,000 players on Steam at its peak. While there aren’t many reviews yet – which is typical for a game in early access – most players seem to be enjoying it, with 73% giving it a positive recommendation. Some early complaints include a frustratingly unskippable opening sequence and somewhat awkward character movement.
Reviewers are very positive about the game, giving the PS5 and PC versions an 88 Metascore. Most agree this is the best James Bond game in years, and that the developers, IO Interactive, have lived up to expectations.
Initial sales figures aren’t looking good, according to Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad. He says that’s likely why the game developers revealed a surprise appearance by TikTok star Khaby Lame.
We’ll have to wait until the global launch tomorrow at 7 AM PDT to see how fans react to the new installment featuring everyone’s favorite spy. While we wait, you can read our detailed preview to get a better idea of what’s in store.
