General Hospital’s Kate Mansi Confirms Exit From Show

Kate Mansi is clocking out.

After playing Kristina Corinthos-Davis on General Hospital for three years—as the daughter of characters Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn)—the actress has decided to leave the role. She described it as a very difficult decision.

Kate explained to Stephanie Sloane in the SoapSteph’s Soap Dish newsletter that she’s starting several new projects that need her complete focus. She also mentioned that because her husband, Matt McInnis, is currently filming a series mostly overseas, she needed the ability to travel while still working on projects in Los Angeles.

Frank Valentini, the show’s executive producer, said they support Kate’s decision to leave and would welcome her back in the future. He also expressed gratitude for her contributions to the show over the last three years.

As for her time in the fictional city of Port Charles, Kate is leaving with no regrets.

She described her time as a wonderful and memorable experience. She expressed her joy in being part of the close-knit and amazing Corinthos-Davis family.

She also understands how important Kristina’s LGBTQ+ storylines were to fans—and that’s what initially drew her to the part.

I was really drawn to the role when Frank first talked to me about it for two main reasons. I wanted to show my support for the LGBTQ+ community by playing a queer character, and I also wanted to help bring awareness to endometriosis. I feel like we successfully told both of those stories in a meaningful way.

After directing two episodes of the show—something she called a wonderful bonus—Kate explained that she and Kristina both feel ready to move on to new projects.

The actress hasn’t revealed details about her future projects, but she hinted in an Instagram post on May 25th that she’ll share more information on June 12th.

As a longtime fan, I’m a little worried about Kristina! We haven’t officially heard if the character is leaving when Kate does – her last episode is in June, you know – but it seems likely they might recast. It makes sense, really, since Kate was already the fourth actress to play Kristina. She’s been a part of the show since she was born on-screen, and they’ve aged the character throughout the years, so it’s a role that’s been passed down a few times now.

Oh my gosh, before Kate took on the role, it’s amazing to remember that Lindsey Morgan, Lexi Ainsworth, and Kali Rodriguez all got to be her at different points! It’s like, they each brought something special to the character before Kate, and I love knowing that history!

As a longtime follower of daytime television, it’s always bittersweet to see a beloved character like Kristina leave General Hospital. While we’re saying goodbye to the actress who played her, I’m thrilled to share that the show is also introducing some exciting new faces and storylines! It’s a natural part of any long-running series, and keeps things fresh and engaging for all of us viewers.

Jonathan Bennett will appear in the medical drama as Detective Joe Fitzpatrick, starting with the episode airing on May 18th. The announcement was made in April.

When the news was released, actress from Mean Girls hinted at a new male cast member, saying, “There’s a new guy in town.” Frank, meanwhile, stated, “We’re thrilled Jonathan is joining the cast. He’s incredibly talented and will be a great addition to General Hospital.”

We’ll have to wait until the last episode to find out what happens with Kristina, but here’s a look at other actors who’ve surprisingly left popular TV shows.

Bridget Regan, who plays Monica Stevens on The Rookie, revealed her character has a knack for survival. Regan told TV Insider that over the show’s four seasons, Monica has narrowly avoided death multiple times, served time in prison, and even survived being thrown into a woodchipper.

Regan said she wasn’t shocked when the attorney’s character died in an April 2026 episode. “It felt right,” she explained. “She’d been on the show for four incredible years, and I’m just thankful for the experience.”

As someone who keeps a close eye on what’s happening in entertainment and lifestyle, I’m hearing that after gaining huge recognition on Dancing With the Stars and absolutely shining in Chicago on Broadway, a talented performer is stepping down from season five of her popular Hulu reality show. She’s moving on to pursue exciting new professional opportunities, and I’m thrilled to see what she does next! It’s always inspiring to see people follow their passions and take the leap towards new adventures.

Samira Mohan is leaving the show The Pitt. According to Variety, actress Supriya Ganesh will also not be back for the third season of the HBO Max drama.

Fans aren’t surprised by the character’s departure, as it’s been established that Ganesh was planning to move to a new hospital for a residency program.

In a March 2026 episode, the show said farewell to Director Leon Vance, portrayed by Rocky Carroll, after 18 years with the character who first appeared in season five. The 500th episode featured Vance’s death in a shootout with a dishonest agent, and a touching scene where he was greeted in heaven by the late Donald “Ducky” Mallard, played by Adam Campbell.

As a lifestyle expert, I know many of you were surprised – I certainly was! – when Mehcad Brooks announced his departure from the long-running NBC crime drama back in 2025, just before season 25. It was a real shock to fans!

It’s a relief to hear she’s in a place where she can make that choice, and I’m fully supporting her decision!

Even though fans likely expected Joel Miller, played by Pedro Pascal, to die – his fate in April 2025 mirrored the events of The Last of Us Part II, the video game the second season of The Last of Us is based on – the shocking and violent way his character died still came as a surprise.

Pascal, known for also being killed off in shows like Game of Thrones and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, wasn’t too upset about his character’s fate. He playfully told Entertainment Weekly, “I get killed a lot. I actually enjoy it!”

Following what he called a “wild adventure,” Peter Krause finished his run as Captain Bobby Nash on the drama 9-1-1 in an episode that aired in April 2025.

According to a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, the character Bobby Nash was intentionally created to be a heroic sacrifice.
