7 Fatalities We Need To Finally See in Mortal Kombat 3 (To Fix a Big Problem)

The Mortal Kombat movies are doing great after a strong reboot and an even better sequel, and now a third film is starting to come together. While the series has a ton of interesting characters who haven’t been fully explored, the famous finishing moves – called fatalities – also deserve some attention. Many of these iconic moves haven’t appeared in the films yet, and we’ve picked out seven fatalities that absolutely need to be included in Mortal Kombat III.

Although the recent films include nods to classic finishing moves from the games, they don’t quite deliver the same level of brutal, definitive kills. This is partly because the story requires a different approach, and sometimes the filmmakers combine elements from several fatalities to create something new. Kitana’s final move in the sequel offers a glimpse of this, but overall, these on-screen versions still fall short. The next film has a great opportunity to fully embrace the series’ signature brutality and bring those iconic, over-the-top finishers to life. Here are seven fatalities fans are hoping to see.

7. Baraka – Take A Spin

Let’s talk about Baraka’s ‘Take A Spin’ Fatality in Mortal Kombat 9. It’s a particularly gruesome move where Baraka skewers his opponent with a claw, lifts them into the air, and then spins them around while slicing off their limbs with another claw. It’s incredibly violent and would be visually striking in a movie.

6. Nightwolf – Komo-tose

Fans are hoping Nightwolf appears in the next movie, and he has some incredibly violent finishing moves. We’re focusing on his “Komo-tose” from Mortal Kombat 11. It begins with Nightwolf breaking his opponent’s neck, twisting it completely around. He then throws his tomahawk, launching the opponent into the air, catching them on his shoulders. Finally, a massive bear spirit appears and rips them apart. If Nightwolf is included in Mortal Kombat III, this fatality would be a shocking way to introduce him.

5. Skarlet – Make It Rain

Let’s look at Skarlet’s ‘Make It Rain’ fatality in Mortal Kombat 9. It’s a particularly gruesome move where Skarlet begins by stabbing herself, then liquefies into blood and disappears underground. She reappears beneath her opponent, using blood tendrils to lift them into the air. Once suspended, she slices them open and stands below as their blood rains down. It’s a truly disturbing and memorable fatality that would definitely stand out in a future game.

4. Scorpion Eye Pulling Victory

Now, let’s look at the latest game, Mortal Kombat 1, and the character Scorpion. While all of his finishing moves are impressive, the one that really stands out is called “Eye Pulling Victory.” In this fatality, Scorpion throws his opponent into the air and then uses his chained spear to pierce through their chest. The spear continues through their body, exiting through the back of their head and eyes, before Scorpion yanks the head off and catches it in his hand.

3. Kitana – Royal Blender

As a huge Mortal Kombat fan, I’m really excited about Kitana’s role in the upcoming third movie. Since she was so central to Mortal Kombat II, it’s a great chance to show off one of her more recent and brutal Fatalities. I’m talking about her Royal Blender – it’s from Mortal Kombat 1, and it’s seriously messed up. Basically, she launches her fan blades, one from the top and one from the bottom, and they spin towards each other while lifting her opponent into the air. It’s a gruesome scene – the blades shred them completely, leaving just a pile of… well, you get the picture. It’s a classic, and I’d love to see it brought to life on the big screen!

2. Liu Kang – Splitter

Liu Kang is expected to return in the third movie, and this finishing move would be a dramatic way to bring him back. Called “Splitter” from Mortal Kombat X, it lives up to its name quickly. Liu Kang starts by powerfully kicking his opponent into the air, then surrounds himself with flames before leaping after them. He connects with a flaming dropkick, planting his feet directly in the opponent’s chest. Finally, he pulls his feet apart, splitting the opponent in half. It’s a truly impactful finishing move.

1. Ermac – Vitruvian Maim

Rounding out our list is Ermac, a character many fans want to see in the next Mortal Kombat movie. In Mortal Kombat 1, Ermac performs a particularly gruesome fatality called the Vitruvian Maim. He launches his opponent into the air and then manipulates them like a rotating clock. With each twist, the opponent sheds layers of their body – first their hands and feet, then at the knees and elbows. Finally, their body implodes, crashing to the ground. It would certainly be a shocking way to see someone defeated on screen if Ermac makes an appearance.

Mortal Kombat II is in theaters now.
