Summer House’s West Wilson Reveals How Amanda Batula Romance Began

West Wilson got his Summer House cast members heated over the details of his new relationship.

During the first part of the season 10 reunion, 31-year-old Austen Kroll shared details about his relationship with Amanda Batula, 34, who recently announced her divorce from Kyle Cooke on January 19th. Kroll explained that he first pursued Batula in late February, around the time his complicated relationship with her close friend, Ciara Miller, ended.

During a recent appearance on Bravo with Andy Cohen, West admitted he noticed a connection between himself and Amanda while they were out together. He questioned whether he was imagining it, wondering if there was something happening between them.

West and Amanda first kissed after a brunch with castmates Kyle, Jesse Solomon, and Ben Waddell on March 1st. This happened secretly, and Ciara later joked about it, pointing out that Amanda had previously texted her insisting West was just a friend.

Amanda texted Ciara on March 5th, saying the internet was intensely focused on her and she felt like all her actions were being scrutinized. She added that she was upset they even needed to have the conversation, but she and West were just friends.

Amanda later messaged that she didn’t want a disagreement about West to damage their relationship, calling the idea ‘silly,’ as Ciara shared on stage.

Amanda stated that she and West only became intimate after they officially announced their relationship with a post on Instagram Stories on March 31st.

Amanda explained that their relationship was always appropriate and innocent. It began with simply talking and sharing feelings.

“This isn’t a sex scandal,” West reiterated, clarifying, “This was, like, hanging out.”

Ciara Miller and West Wilson found love on the set of Summer House season eight in 2023, and their connection continued off-screen in real life.

However, their romance wouldn’t last long, with the costars breaking up at the end of that year.

The difficult breakup created tension at the summer house for the next two years, as Ciara wrestled with whether to forgive the sports reporter for hurting her and potentially try to rebuild their relationship.

After a rocky four-year marriage, Amanda Batula and Kyle Cooke have decided to separate, just before the tenth season of their Bravo series airs in 2026.

The couple announced on Instagram on January 19th that they have decided to separate. They shared the news in a joint statement, saying they made the decision together and remain friendly. They asked for privacy and support as they both work on themselves and move forward.

Okay, so Amanda and Kyle – my absolute favorites! – they got married back in September 2021, and they just put out a statement that totally broke my heart. They said it feels so weird to ask for privacy because they’ve always been so open about everything, sharing their whole relationship with us. But they’re going through something now, and honestly, all they’re asking for is a little kindness and respect as they figure things out. It just… gets me, you know? I just want them to be happy and I’ll do anything to protect them!

The show gave viewers an intimate look at the couple’s struggles as their relationship fell apart.

Rumors started circulating quickly that Amanda and West were romantically involved after the gossip blog Deuxmoi reported on March 5th that the two actors were seen behaving flirtatiously in New York City.

Addressing rumors, West dismissed the speculation during a March 24th appearance on Watch What Happens Live. He explained that she’s currently single and that he was simply showing her around New York, as he has with others she’s dated before. He stated, “She’s single now and it happened already to other people she’s hung out with. We were just hanging out in New York. She’s single now, I gotta show her the streets a little.”

The journalist said, “She’s a close friend – someone I really care about a lot.”

After news spread about a possible relationship between West and Amanda, some of their colleagues spoke out about the rumors.

I noticed Carl Radke posted a really confused-looking photo on his Instagram Stories yesterday, and it seems Lindsay Hubbard and KJ Dillard were feeling the same way! They all shared similar expressions – total “WTF?” moments – on their own social media pages. It definitely got everyone talking!

Austen Kroll, who appears on Bravo and is friends with several cast members of Summer House, weighed in on the drama. He posted on his Instagram Stories on March 29th, saying, “Apparently, it’s trendy to eat pasta and date your friends’ exes.”

Okay, so Amanda and West finally addressed all the speculation, and yes, the rumors are true! They confirmed everything in a joint statement they posted on Instagram on March 31st. It was a pretty big reveal, honestly – a real bombshell!

We never meant to keep our relationship a secret,” the couple explained in an Instagram Story. “Because things were complicated, and we were under a lot of public attention from the show, we needed some time to figure things out privately before sharing anything.

We understand this situation has only affected us and we never intended to cause any pain or seem insensitive. We’re grateful for your understanding and respect as we work through this.

Just as West and Amanda revealed they were dating, Ciara was seen in New York City looking upset and being comforted by a friend. She also started getting support from friends and colleagues online, as people within the Bravo TV community began choosing sides in the dramatic love triangle.

Amanda’s soon-to-be ex-husband, Kyle Cooke, appeared to joke about their ongoing issues by posting a selfie with Ciara on Instagram on March 30th.

Paige DeSorbo, known from Summer House, showed Ciara some love with a sweet comment on Instagram, simply writing, “Ur perfect.” Lindsay Hubbard and Dara Levitan, a new cast member this season, also voiced their support for Ciara, with Lindsay calling the post “Perfection” and Dara adding, “And that’s how you do it.”

Two days after Amanda and West went public, Kyle slammed his former friend for moving in on his ex.

He told journalist Adam Glyn in a TikTok video posted in April that he felt deeply betrayed. “He ended our friendship really quickly,” he said. “I just don’t understand – what happened to loyalty between friends?”

Kyle also insinuated West’s intentions were calculated.

He told Adam that West is skilled at understanding his audience and knows exactly how to appeal to women. People are praising West’s apparent change for the better, but it’s clear he’s deliberately using flattery to gain their support.

Ciara’s longtime BFF Paige DeSorbo made it clear whose side she’s on amid the fallout.

Ciara is a true friend to us, and we’ve been there for her, offering support and comfort. As we shared on our Giggly Squad podcast, we completely support her and would never try to profit from her difficult time.

Paige went on to share “the final thing” she was going to say about the situation.

Paige emphasized that Ciara is a strong, smart, and capable woman. She explained that Ciara will share her thoughts and feelings when she’s ready, and Paige wouldn’t want to speak for her.

After waiting a week to process things, Ciara finally spoke up and gave a brief update on how she was doing.

At the premiere of Euphoria season three on April 7th, Ciara shared with Entertainment Tonight that she’s doing very well despite the recent, highly publicized relationship between Amanda and West.

Ciara showed she wasn’t bothered by the new relationship between Amanda and West, playfully dismissing it while she hosted the red carpet event for the premiere of HBO Max’s Euphoria season three.

Ciara jokingly asked Sydney Sweeney, whose character on HBO often finds herself in complicated love lives, what someone would do after dating a friend’s ex-boyfriend. She posed the question at an event on April 7th.

Sydney, who plays Cassie Howard on the show, reacted with discomfort when asked about her character starting a relationship with Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi), the ex-boyfriend of her character’s best friend, Maddy Perez (Alexa Demie). She simply said, “It’s not good.”

Ciara, age 30, directly told her partner what she wanted for their future, stating, “I think we should get married.”

Following a week of backlash, Amanda broke her silence to address angry fans.

In a post on Instagram Stories on April 10, the 34-year-old apologized to everyone they had hurt or disappointed, particularly those they had contacted directly.

She explained that she’s trying to get back to a normal life for her own well-being. If people see her out and about or active online, they should understand she’s still deeply affected by what happened and hasn’t forgotten it.

Plus, she promised fans will get more answers to their myriad of questions soon.

Amanda confirmed she’ll be at the reunion and promised to answer everyone’s questions openly and honestly while she’s there.

Almost three weeks after West and Amanda revealed their relationship, Ciara finally spoke directly about the controversy for the first time.

Ciara recently told Glamour that dealing with heartbreak is hard enough privately, but having it play out so publicly adds another level of difficulty. She specifically mentioned how painful it was to watch what she considered her personal life unfold on the tenth season of a show, calling it a deeply disorienting experience.

The woman, age 30, said she was much closer to Amanda before the scandal came to light, but she and West were trying to improve their own relationship. Because of that existing closeness with Amanda, she felt more hurt by Amanda’s actions than by what West did.

Ultimately, people are who they are,” Ciara explained. “Regardless of what’s happening with me and West, you can’t always predict what men will do. What’s most shocking to me is that this came from Amanda, who I’ve considered a friend and supporter for a long time. That’s the hardest part to process.”
