The new Yellowstone spin-off, Dutton Ranch, premiered earlier this month and has quickly become the most successful original series launch ever on Paramount+.
The new series, starring Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton and Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler, has quickly become a hit. It’s already been viewed 12.9 million times worldwide in the week since it launched. According to early numbers from Nielsen, it was also the most-streamed series for the week of May 11th.
As a critic, I have to say the premiere of this series really delivered! It pulled in a fantastic 2.9 million viewers across its first two episodes on Paramount Network. Even more impressive, it marked the biggest series launch on cable since 2023, with nearly 1.9 million people tuning in for the very first episode. That’s a strong start, and definitely has me looking forward to seeing where the story goes.
Dutton Ranch centers on Beth and Rip as they work to create a life together, facing harsh challenges and a powerful, unforgiving competitor determined to maintain control.

Let me tell you, the cast of this show is stacked. We’ve got the incredible duo of Andrew Reilly and Taylor Hauser leading the way, but they’re surrounded by some seriously talented actors. Ed Harris and Annette Bening bring their A-game, and the younger generation is well-represented by Finn Little. Plus, you’ve got strong performances from Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, JR Villarreal, Marc Menchaca, and Natalie Alyn Lind. Honestly, every scene feels elevated by this ensemble.
Before the show premiered, Reilly mentioned in an interview with TopMob that she’s hoping for a future storyline that connects the world of Dutton Ranch with the spin-off series Marshals, which features Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton.
Reilly expressed interest in seeing a few episodes focused on Beth reconnecting with her brother, while Kayce is working as a Marshal. He believes this would be a compelling storyline, allowing them to share what’s been happening in their lives, as both characters have changed a lot.
The first season of Marshals has finished airing, and the show has been renewed for a second season.
Okay, so the first season ended with a big hint that Kayce might find love again. It’s a little sad, but his wife, Monica (played by Kelsey Asbille), was written off the show sometime between the last episode of Yellowstone and when Marshals started, which definitely opens the door for a new romance for him.
