No Man’s Sky Players Face a Whole New Threat in Yet Another Free Major Update

No Man’s Sky just got a big, free update introducing a brand new enemy that’s a threat to the entire game universe.

The new update, called The Swarm, adds a powerful enemy force known as the Hive of Glass. This group can wipe out entire fleets of freighters and may even be able to destroy space stations.

Overcoming this challenge will require a united effort from everyone in the NMS community, and players will work together as part of one of three different groups.

When you start the game, you’ll first take a personality test. Your answers will decide which group you join.

As a huge fan, I’m really excited about the Nexus – it’s basically our headquarters in this fight against this new, unknown enemy. It’s where we’ll be able to see how we’re doing, how close we are to winning. And get this – apparently, whichever faction does the most to stop the Hive of Glass will have their name permanently displayed in the Space Anomaly! That’s a pretty awesome reward, and a great way to be remembered.

The latest Swarm update adds a new enemy type and exciting space battles. You’ll now face swarms of drones launched by the Hive, which you’ll need to destroy. But be warned – the Hive itself is a powerful weapon, capable of taking down even the biggest structures and ships in the game.

This update isn’t just about new space fights – it also adds more activities on planets. You can now discover crashed drones to salvage and examine, using the gravity gun we added previously.

There are various in-game rewards you’ll earn for interacting with these new Swarm activities.

I can’t believe No Man’s Sky is almost ten years old! Considering how tough its launch was, it’s seriously amazing the game has stuck around this long. And Hello Games? They’ve supported it like crazy – it’s been incredible to watch.
