No Man’s Sky: The Swarm Update Adds a Universe-Destroying Threat That Players Must Stop Together

The latest update to No Man’s Sky features its most ambitious Expedition yet, called The Swarm. For the next eight weeks, players will join one of three teams, work together to collect three key fragments, and ultimately overcome a new enemy called the Hive of Glass.

The three teams – Royal, Sage, and Weaver – are working together, but also competing to be the one that completes the counter-swarm operation. Whoever finishes it first will earn bragging rights within the Space Anomaly.

Okay, so The Swarm isn’t going down without a fight! The Hive of Glass is seriously intimidating, and there are tons of these new Swarmer enemies you have to take on. You really need to defeat them to start figuring out how to use the Prismatic Core to damage the Hive’s main base. And while you’re at it, you definitely want to clean up all the mess and corruption the Swarmers leave behind on the planets. It’s a lot, but it’s all part of taking them down!

The Expedition update introduces the Direwasp armor set, letting you build a unique six-piece outfit from swarmer parts. You’ll also get the Direwasp Flightpack, which makes a powerful buzzing sound – hopefully, your team won’t mind! And to help deal with the swarmer threat, there’s the new Direwasp Disintegrator.

No Man’s Sky is playable on PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X/S, PC, and both Nintendo Switch models. After nearly ten years, the game continues to receive free updates and remains popular.
