Love Island producers tease never-before-seen twist in opening episode: ‘It’s a big risk’

Love Island is back on TV this summer, and the show is making some big changes to keep viewers hooked night after night.

Lewis Evans, the show’s supervising executive producer, announced that the first episode of the new season will start with a major, unprecedented event. It will feature a first-of-its-kind moment in the show’s history.

This year’s advertising focuses on two big summer events everyone will be discussing: the World Cup and Love Island. The football tournament will be happening on the field, and plenty of drama and competition will unfold in the Love Island villa.

According to Evans, this year’s Love Island will feature a significant change right from the first episode. He told TopMob and other media that they’re taking a risk by doing something completely new in the show’s history, hoping it will be a success.

He went on to explain that things will be different this time around, pointing out the villa now has a new area with more beds, which means we’ll be seeing more new contestants joining the show.

Love Island’s first episode has seen a lot of changes over time. In the past, viewers sometimes chose who the Islanders paired up with, and more recently, the show has used games to help the Islanders decide on their couples.

When TopMob inquired if the new development concerned how the Islanders pair up, Evans was evasive, simply stating, “And some more.”

The team behind Love Island is focused on keeping the show fresh and engaging. Commissioning editor Amanda Stavri emphasized the need to avoid the show becoming stale and predictable.

This season of Love Island promises a summer full of surprises, challenges, and romantic connections. Get ready for new contestants, changing relationships, and plenty of drama – it’s shaping up to be the most exciting series yet!

The plot thickens!

Love Island returns on Monday 1 June at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
