2026 Sci-Fi Movie Flop Based on 91-Year-Old Classic Is Taking Over Streaming in the U.S.

2025 was a remarkably successful year for Warner Bros., thanks to a mix of popular blockbusters like A Minecraft Movie and Superman, alongside critically praised, award-winning films such as One Battle After Another, Sinners, and Weapons. The Bride! Bombed in Theaters But Is Worth Watching On Streaming

She’s always captivating to watch, and she’s the main reason to see the movie. Buckley plays a complex dual role: she portrays both Ida, the Bride, and a fictionalized version of Mary Shelley who seems to be influencing her. The character has intense emotional moments, and Buckley handles them with skill and flair. She was perfectly cast to lead this visually striking and unique genre film.

Visually, Gyllenhaal’s film is striking. The Bride! features beautiful sets and designs that really put you back in the 1930s – it’s no surprise Warner Bros. released it in IMAX. Although the story doesn’t always flow perfectly, the movie has a fast pace that can be quite enjoyable, especially when watching at home. It’s a bold attempt at a unique story, and even though it doesn’t quite succeed, it’s more interesting than a film that’s simply boring or poorly made.

It’s not surprising that The Bride! is popular on streaming so quickly after appearing on HBO Max. Films like this often perform well when people watch them at home. The way people watch movies has changed a lot, and now it’s easy to wait and see new releases later. If a movie gets lukewarm reviews, many viewers will skip the theater and wait to watch it at home.
