Rick and Morty is a hugely popular animated show, and it’s easy to see why. Now in its ninth season, the sci-fi series has consistently delivered – offering everything from episodes that build on the show’s complex story and introduce new ideas, to self-contained adventures based on interesting concepts, and even some of the strangest stories ever animated. Still a top sci-fi show, Rick and Morty’s ninth season recently achieved a major milestone, and it’s all thanks to its dedicated fanbase.

I’m so thrilled to see that Rick and Morty season 9 is getting such a fantastic response! As of right now, it’s sitting at an amazing 89% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s really significant because it’s actually higher than the scores for the seasons that came after Justin Roiland’s departure. Remember how seasons 7 and 8, after the changes, only managed 52% and 68%? This new season feels like a real return to form, and I’m so happy to see fans are loving it!

The audience response to Rick and Morty season 9 has been very positive, making it the highest-rated season since Justin Roiland’s departure. Beyond audience scores, the show is also performing well with critics. Currently, season 9 has a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on nine reviews – the best score of any season so far. Previous seasons have also seen strong scores, with seasons 7 and 8 receiving 77% and 93% respectively, indicating an overall upward trend for the series.

Following Justin Roiland’s departure, Rick and Morty found new actors to voice its main characters. Ian Cardoni now plays Rick Sanchez, and Harry Belden voices Morty Smith, both aiming to sound like the original portrayals. So far, only one episode of season 9 has aired. Titled “There’s Something About Morty,” it featured the return of Evil Morty, who joins forces with Rick to tackle a danger across multiple universes, causing Morty to feel left out. This ultimately leads to a particularly impressive fight scene in the series.

Ben Gibbons of ScreenRant gave the latest season of Rick and Morty a 9/10, calling it proof that adult animation is at its peak. He highlighted the show’s excellent animation and its ability to blend family dynamics, sci-fi adventures, and humor into a consistently entertaining ten-episode season. The show is also performing well with audiences, currently ranking as the second most-watched series on HBO Max globally, according to FlixPatrol.
