Pragmata Director Would “Love to See a Sequel”, But it’s Not Just His Decision

Capcom’s recently released game, Pragmata, has been a surprising success. In an interview with GamesRadar, the game’s producer, Naoto Oyama, and director, Yonghee Cho, both mentioned they’d like to make a sequel. However, they aren’t sure if a sequel is currently planned.

Oyama explained that since Pragmata was just released a month ago, his priority is getting it played by as many people as possible. Because of this, he hasn’t started thinking about a sequel yet.

I’m really not sure what’s next. As you mentioned, Pragmata has only been out for a month, so right now I’m just concentrating on getting as many people to play it as possible. My main focus is Pragmata itself.

Cho expressed interest in developing a follow-up to Pragmata, but the final decision rests with Capcom.

He expressed enthusiasm for a sequel, saying he would definitely enjoy seeing one. However, he clarified that the decision isn’t up to him alone, so he couldn’t offer any further details. He emphasized that this was simply his personal view.

The game Pragmata launched on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on April 17th. Capcom recently announced that it sold one million copies in just two days, indicating a very successful release.

The game continued to thrive, selling 2 million copies in just 16 days. The company announced that this impressive number was thanks to their strategy of showcasing Pragmata widely through trailers and a demo, ensuring as many players as possible had a chance to experience it.

Pragmata is a game set on the moon where players follow Hugh’s journey to return home. He soon meets Diana, an android who appears and acts like a little girl, and they join forces to overcome obstacles. The game focuses on the developing bond between Hugh and Diana, and players must utilize their teamwork to progress.

Pragmata isn’t just another shooter; it adds a unique hacking element. Enemies on the lunar base are heavily armored and resistant to regular weapons. Luckily, Diana can hack into them to reveal vulnerabilities, allowing Hugh to defeat them. During gameplay, this means players will need to quickly solve simple puzzles for each enemy while simultaneously dodging attacks.

You can find a full review of Pragmata on our site. We gave it a 9/10, praising its engaging story, memorable characters, and the connection between Hugh and Diana. We did feel that Hugh’s character could be more developed, and the game occasionally leans too heavily on familiar science fiction ideas.
