You might be surprised to hear this, but Dr. Seuss’s classic book, The Cat in the Hat, is being released as a video game for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. It’s definitely an unexpected announcement on a quiet Friday!
Outright Games is developing a four-player party game that reminds me of Mario Party. However, this game focuses more on the individual minigames than the traditional board game aspects.
The game features two main ways to play: a collection of minigames and a quick, exciting chase where players try to find the tricky Cat in the Hat.
The game’s trailer shows the developer has done a good job of capturing the look of Dr. Seuss’s illustrations – I especially like the little details, like the way the raindrops are drawn.
Many fans may recall a The Cat in the Hat game for the PlayStation 1. It was a platforming adventure based on the 2003 film starring Mike Myers.
It’s obvious this game is designed for children, and the developers promise lots of ways to adjust how easy or hard it is, so everyone – no matter their age or gaming experience – can enjoy it.
Okay, so Outright Games isn’t making AAA titles, but honestly, they’re putting out some pretty good, family-friendly console games. And if I’m being real, I’d much rather my kids spend their time playing something like this than getting lost in Roblox.
I’m so excited – the game is coming out on October 30th! The official announcement didn’t say how much it’ll cost, but I’m guessing it won’t be super expensive.
