Add The Vardys to your watchlist
The old saying is that any publicity is good publicity, but some people might disagree, especially considering recent events. However, Rebekah Vardy, who was famously involved in the 2022 “Wagatha Christie” court case, doesn’t seem to be bothered by negative attention.
I wonder which is more challenging for someone used to being in the public eye: constant attention from the British press, or being largely unknown while living in Milan? It also raises the question of how someone with a strong public image maintains that image while living and working abroad.
I can confirm that Rebekah Vardy is smiley and pleasant company
The answer, likely to both questions, is The Vardys, a reality TV show. It features Jamie Vardy’s highs and lows as a footballer, along with the usual stress of finding a new home before the season starts. Similar shows include The “Réal” Beckhams (covering their move to Madrid in 2003), or, for something even more extravagant, I Am Georgina (Riyadh, 2023), which follows Cristiano Ronaldo’s fiancée. Compared to these shows, Rebekah and Jamie Vardy seem surprisingly relatable and grounded.
Jamie Vardy visited the RT offices last week to talk about the show, and I can say that despite what the British press call her “resting b*tch face,” she was actually very cheerful and friendly. She seems to be enjoying her new life abroad – a peaceful break after a lot of upheaval, which she described as a chance to rest and recharge. When discussing the show’s concept, she simply put it as, “We had something new to talk about.”
Despite the focus on Jamie Vardy’s talent, fame, and inspiring life story, the series shows that his family has a solid foundation built on three simple things. First, they prioritize family, with their four children and busy school schedules. Second, they’re surrounded by longtime friends, including those from Jamie’s hometown, who bring a welcome boost of energy. And third, amidst the often turbulent world of footballer’s marriages, Jamie and Rebekah’s relationship appears strong and resilient, even under pressure.

Despite the seemingly ordinary life, Rebekah Vardy also enjoys a reported £30,000 weekly salary, travels by private jet, and understands her situation could quickly change if her performance dips. It’s a high-pressure world, but she’s proven herself to be resilient and willing to take on the challenge.
How does she manage to stay positive when surrounded by thousands of opposing fans chanting insults, even about her personal life? She explains that she remembers she chose to be there, to support her husband. She believes resilience is key – everyone faces criticism, and you just have to accept both the positive and negative sides of being in the public eye.
Amid all the money and mayhem, something, then, we can all relate to.
The Vardys is on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 9.00pm ITV1
